What is Fibromyalgia really and chronic fatigue syndrome?

Aren't they just made up things that the doctors come up with when they do not know the answer why you are having pain in certain areas? And isn't just another name for Depression? I wondered because my even though I have been diagnosed by another doctor with Chiari Malformation and I have had surgery for it, but my problem is back, the new doctor is sending me to be checked for them things. They told me that you can be depressed and not know it and without showing signs! what? I have no signs of depression and I do not feel depressed at all. I am a happy person except for hearing that and I have a good sense of humor. I am not sad at all or down in the dumps. So what the heck?

many dos do use the FMS and CFIDS label because tehy are incompetant--a large number of tehpeople with teh diagnosis don't actually have either condition---they have soemthing else form normal pain due to lifestyle choices to depression to anotehr physical illness--many docs automatically add teh FMS label to any pain condition--if a person has arthritis--they automaticlaly get teh fms label to describe tehpain of arthritis

there is evidence of a neurological basis for FMS-studies have shown issues with the use of neurotransmitters (norepinephrine and serotonin) as well as issues with blood profusion.

while it is true that the neurotrnasmitters are also involved in depression----many people with FMS could not be diagnosed with depression.

In my case I had symptoms since I was 5--I had 2 severe injuries around taht time (1 in tehspring, 1 in teh summer0--a head and a back/lung injury....

i was a happy,active child.....but could not physiclaly keep up with my peers and had unexplained pain.....

there are other physical symptoms-motor coordinatiuon, muscle twitching, numbness, body temp issues, dizziness

with CFIDS there are flu like symptoms that are deifnately not pychological-sore throats, fevers, etc..
