I AM A YOUNG PERSON WITH PARKINSONS{35} THE SYMPTONS STARTED WHEN I WAS 18 DIAGNOSED AT 27 I AM LOOKING TO VOLUNTEER MYSELF FOR ANY CLINICAL TRIALS FOR POSSIBLE TREATMENTS FOR PARKINSONS CURRENTLY I AM TAKING HALF SINAMET 5 TIMES A DAY AND AMMANTADINE AS WELL IF THINKS I WOULD BE A SUITABLE GUINEE PIG PLEASE PLEASE GET IN TOUCH .I LIVE IN THE UK In my opinion, one of the most exciting is Spheramine. The retina in a person's eye has dopamine producing cells in it. An organ donor's eyes can actually provide enough cells for thousands of people. The dompamine producing cells from the retina can be transplanted into the parts of the brain that Parkinson's has robbed. So far, it has yielded some very encouraging results. It is still new, so we have to see if it can continue to show promising results. If you were selected, it would require you to have surgery and spend a good amount of time in clinics and hospitals. To learn more you can request information here: http://myparkinsonsinfo.com/offers/clini... Your neurologist should be able to tell you about any that are occurring in your area. Source(s): From a web log, Retinal Cell Implant Clinical Trial - I Had the Surgery, by Peggy Willocks posted about her experience as a Spheramine trial participant at: http://myparkinsonsinfo.com/articles/ret... www.clinicaltrials.gov You may want to check with your local hospitals or health clinics to see if they know of any clinical trials nearby your area. Sometimes they can be of assistance to patients who are seeking other forms of treatment for their ailments. Also you may want to look in your local newspaper too. Sometimes organizations have ads in the paper alerting the public about these clinics and are asking for willing volunteers. But it is up to the clinics to decide if they think you would be a good canidate for their trial medicines and procedures. They do complete workups and family histories and so forth. Good luck to you and I hope you find some answers and relief for your disease! |
