How can i tell if i have a sinus infection or just a common cold?

I dont want to have to the doctor unless i have to. And with a sinus infection would my throat hurt?

It's usually hard to tell but the best way is, take for index finger and your thumb and gently tap the area on the sides of nose. *close to your nose but not on your nose* Your thumb and your index finger should be on either side of your nose.

If it feels sensitive to touch then it's your sinus's an infection is usually next... that means you have A LOT of drainage so when you blow your nose, not only will it hurt but the mucus will be discolored so to speak. It'll range from yellow to green. And yes your throat would hurt. It's time to see a doctor or get over the counter medication. I typically go to the doctor though.

snot color is true.
You can often get rid of the sinus infection by using over the counter remedies.
SIMPLY SALINE (use in shower and completely flush out your sinuses -- it's awesome and worth the money)
MUCINES-D (you'll need ID to purchase it b/c it has a decongestant in it) it helps all the crud drain and dry out.

Caution: take during the day only as it can make you wired and not sleep which would ultimately make you sicker!

Pressure in your cheeks and forehead. Not clear mucus usually yields an infection. But if its bearalble my body usually can overcome an infection with the helf/relief of over-the counters. (keep in mind, the neds do not cure! Just help with the symptoms) Drink plenty of fluids to flush out the bug.

Pain over your sinuses (around your nose, under your eyes and over your forehead) is a clue that is might be a sinus infection and not just the common cold. Go see a doctor to be sure.

sinus infection your snot is green .. and your throat may or may not hurt depending on the severity of it.

if you blow your nose and the snot is yellow..you have a sinus infection.
