What happens if you drink cold water when you're sweating?

Ever since I was a litlte kid, lots of people have warned me not to drink cold water after exercising, or when the weather is really hot and I'm sweating.

Why not? Nobody ever said why!

Cold water will cool your internal body temperature and actually relieve sweating.

It's simply misinformation. If you've been warned not to drink extremely cold water after working out, perhaps the person was referring to the dangers of getting a cold head rush.

I suppose if you're lightheaded after working out, drinking freezing cold water could encourage dizziness.

However, you SHOULD drink water no matter what after and during exercise, so don't worry too much about this.

Cheers!

Because cold water is a shock to the body...also It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. It will slow down the digestion. Once this "sludge" reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine. Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer.

Actually water is the best thing for you when you are hot and sweating. Cold water is not going to hurt you.
Always try to keep yourself hydrated when out in the heat and humidity.

cold water contracts your throat, making it harder to breathe. I'm not sure if that's why they were saying that, but it is a reason not to.

Cold water is not good just like taking a shower and not drying your hair and going to sleep you might get some disease i forgot what it was called dangit

it hurts your vacal cords and it hurts you but you cant feel it

i dont know i always do that nothing happens to me!
