Why do your ears ring sometimes for no reason? i have no cold and have not been listening to loud music?

Im just lying in bed on my laptop and suddenly this really loud really piercing ringing starts in my right ear, they type i would get when i have a cold, but i have no cold. Even when you have a cold, what makes your ears ring?

Tinnitis, no known cause, no cure, you just have to learn to 'tune it out'. as you do with familiar noises. Not easy at first, but it is possible.
It has nothing to do with your blood pressure, something in the inner ear sending messages to the brain (as with anything we hear) causes the noise.

It's called tinnitus and it can happen when your blood pressure is falling or rising suddenly. Sometimes is happens for no reason, I get it all the time.
Sadly there is nothing you can do, and you do lose a little bit of hearing every time it happens. If it gets severe and you feel dizzy go to the hospital. They will give you high dosages of oxygen and an IV to try and save your hearing, but my brother still lost his on one ear.

See a doctor about it, there could be an underlying condition.

Well when you say 'ringing' do you mean like a proper ringing noise, or more of a high pitched single note?

If its actually like a ringing then that's a bit odd and i'd go see the doctor...or if the noise is frequent and bothering you.

If it's just a sort of high pitched whistling like a kettle whistling, then I believe thats normal, as everyone I know gets it from time to time. I'm not sure what it is but I heard a very good theory that it was cells dying in your ears, and that once you have heard that particular frequency, you'll not be able to hear it again in your lifetime (as we get older, we become unable to hear higher frequencies, which is why those mosquito antisocial behaviour sirens supposedly only bother young people).

There is a condition called tinnitus. See your doctor!

it means someones talkin about you
