Which is the most common way of catching a cold, through someone else or by being out in cold temps? |
And which one of the two are defined as viral cold and bacterial cold? so if it's really cold and windy outside and you happen to just wear a singlet, nothing will happen to you? I mean i understand you can get Hypothermia from being in Freezing conditions but what about just cold? I assume you are talking about the "common cold" which is typically caused by something called a rhinovirus. Actually, many of the infections that we associate with flu and cold type symptoms are generally due to viruses. People can have symptoms that are similar to the common cold, like a bronchitis, that can be caused by bacteria though its less common. A cold is a virus that is caught by being in contact with somebody who already has the virus. colds are everywhere - there airborne so you will catch one what ever, but more so if your in a close room with someone or if you share things and then put your hands in your mouth where the virus is present. colds are viral - however colds can turn into bacteria if its severe and gets on the chest etc... winter is the worse time for virus to be around. that's why they say wrap up warm and if you are in contact with someone with a cold wash your hands....but i am afraid a colds a cold and not alto your going to do to stop one. Colds are from being out and about. You typically breathe in other germs/recieve them from physical contact etc. Although cold temperatures might weaken your immune system.. .. A lot of myths abound about colds, they are caused by a germ and nothing else, and yes, if somebody sneezes near you, it is possible for you to pick up the infection. There is no bacterial cold, and they're all caught by contact, not by being outdoors in cold temperatures. A cold can only be caught from another person. |
