How do you prevent catching a cold? |
Im going into hospital in 5 days for a Hysterectomy and everyone around me at work and at home has a cold!! Will the consultant still perform my operation if i have a cold? does anyone know how to prevent catching one in the first place?? Ow.. good luck with the surgery and recovery, girl! ): Anyway, well, the best way to avoid catching a cold (in my opinion) is to take lots of vitamin C, get plenty of rest, and don't forget to drink a lot of fluids. Also try not to become too stressed, as well... Most likely no, they will not continue with the surgery if you are seriously sick with a cold. You need to be healthy as can be before they administer Intravenous meds and you will be knocked out during surgery, so you need to be able to breathe in the anesthesia. Even a dentist won't perform oral surgery if you have a simple cold. It risks you getting an infection. Advice: Lots of Vitamin C, wash hands, rest, and stay home if you can! When you get a cold, the virus most likely entered your body 3-4 days earlier, not the day before or the same day you get sick. The best prevention is to wash your hands frequently. 1 prevention tip is to wash your hands frequently. Eat a good diet, take vitamins, exercise and get good rest. Still hand washing is top preventer. Increase your immunity, eat citrus fruits (orange or sweet lime) daily. |

I assume you are talking about the "common cold" which is typically caused by something called a rhinovirus. Actually, many of the infections that we associate with flu and cold type symp... yes, the drainage when you lay down makes you gag then you end up threoing up... it has happened to me... you need something like sudafed to dry that up and it should stop. ...yup ..works great for me but you gotta start the treatment as soon as you get that little tingling sensation if you want the cold sore to not show up or go away within a few days ...That sounds rather strange, my only guess can be an unsanitary facility. ...Have you received any vaccines lately? You could be breaking out from that. I received a vaccine in my arm and because of it I broke out on my arm face neck and thigh ...If it is hot enough for moisture to be in the air then it sticks. If it is cold enough for there to be frost or rain (more moisture around) it sticks to you. Especially in the rain. ...i use fresh basil in my chicken broth. ... |
