How do I get rid of a head cold/ regularish cold?

When I wake up in the morning my throat feels like sandpaper and my nose is completely stuffed and my head feels huge and stuffy.
I gathered this is a head cold. (Please tell me if it's something else)

What do I do to get rid of it?

oh I have a lot of mucus too. It's clear.

drink TONS of water

blow your nose a lot - do not sniff, this leads to sinus infections

drink orange juice

drink chicken soup/broth/stock - there is something in it that helps the immune system

avoid dairy and refined sugar, it increases mucus production

take steamy showers

get excessive amounts of sleep

do not exercise - this prolongs ailments

gargle with warm salt water

take Zicam

take a decongestant with lots of water to help open you up so you are not breathing through your mouth so much at night ...

take anti-histamines ... both colds and allergies produce histamines which cause mucus production, congestion, etc ...

feel better soon!!

Advil cold and sinus has helped me a lot int he past ... tylenol flu/cold also has helped in the distasnt past, but I cannot take it anymore ...

drinking tea should be good for you, too ... avoid caffeine, though ...

From your description it sounds like you have allergies. Does this happen at a certain time of the year, like fall? I suggest going to the doctor to find out if it is indeed a cold, or just allergies which you can be treated for to relieve the symptoms.
