Drinking cold water while eating?

My mom is a nurse and she mentioned something to me I thought was interesting...(she didn't know if this was true either, so I'm asking you guys)

Have any of you heard that if you drink very cold water while eating it will slow the absorption (i think it was) of fat in foods thus keeping them from absorbing properly.

I'm not 100% sure that's what she said but it's something along those lines...heard anything similar???

I'm asking in regards to retaining fat not burning it

Nope never heard of it. I do know however, by drinking water at a meal time you get fuller faster, leading to less calories eaten throughout the day.

Never heard of that before... I can see where that can come from though. Keep in mind your body stays at 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit all the time. So anything that goes in your body is going to be 98.6 degrees within the next five minutes. I wouldn't base your weight loss dreams on it.

it will dilute the hydrochloric acid in your stomach, which interferes with the breaking down of food. I don't know about the absorbtion of fat. You should get your mom to ask one of her doctor friends about that.
Good luck!

I have heard it, but I don't think that it is true. Cold water does help the indigestion though. If you have heart trouble though ice cold water is bad for you.

a friend told me that his grandpa told him that it somehow makes you more bloated or something and to always drink room temp water...
