I had the primary infection of HSV-1, but never had a cold sore?

Does this mean I will never get a cold sore and I am in the clear?
The primary infection occured on November 3, 2008.
Since then, I have had no cold sores or signs of the infection occuring again. I am always, constantly stressed out, which is a factor for making cold sores re-activate, and I have never had one.

It is impossible to know whether or not you are ever going to get a cold sore again. Some people go years in between getting infected and when they first show symptoms. Other people get symptoms all the time.

I'm not sure what you mean by "in the clear." You will always have herpes. But then, most people (50% to 80% of adults) have oral herpes. So its nothing to worry about.

I wish that there was a way to know if / when outbreaks will occur, but there isn't. Sorry.

Unfortunately there is nothing to predict weather you will or won't get another out break in your life time but you are not in the clear. HSV1 is a permanent virus, you will have it in your body regardless if you have out breaks.
You could have had HSV1 since child hood, had an out break then and never had another one, which can happen to some people with cold sores. While others get out breaks repeatedly through out their lives.
Your immune system plays a big part when it comes to herpes out break. There are other triggers besides stress that can cause out breaks. If it's under stress, exposed to UV light or cold temps for too long, or have a bad illness or other infections then you could get another out break even certain foods can trigger an out break. Your immune system must be very strong. Keep it that way and you may not get another out break.

Herpes can lay dormant in the system for years without any symptoms at all. Other factors trigger them, some people may not get them when they are stressed so you cant assume its 'gone away' just because of that. It will always be in your system as there is no cure and nobody can predict when you will have a outbreak. x

New styoms you might have but not know it.
