Help please? Has anyone got any old fashioned remedies for children with colds?? |
Or any herbal remedie or answers? Jewish penicillin (chicken soup.) there is alot on on this website... http://www.holisticonline.com/herbal-med... Hi, don't ask me why,and I can't ask my Mom, but she used to fry up some onions, and then put them in a sock and tie that around our necks.I remember it helped me breath a little easier. Maybe Mom was just strange,But her Grandfather was the Indian tribes Medicine Man.She said that's where she learned her homemade remedies. I don't know where you're from, you need to get vick's vapour and put it in a bowl with boiling water, inhale the scent while under the blancket, make sure you stay under the blancket for a while. You might need someone to help you with that. Also, don't drink cold stuff, drink more hot stuff like tee or coffee. drink a lot of orange and lemon juice. Ginger also can help, you can boil it with the tea. Make sure you stay at bed and do not make a lot of effort, colds & flues need rest and a lot of liquid. Feel better soon personal experience What kind of cold? Croup? Steam. Regular cold chicken soup, ginger ale. As for herbs purple coneflower also called echinacea is great. Fresh ginger skinned and boiled in water let cool add some lemon and sugar couple times a day. For cough, slippery elm bark tea, there are others but not recommended for children, mua huang which is ephedrine it is not for children under 12 I believe because it can cause a fast heart beat etc... The best thing that works for my kids is a little vicks on the chest so they can inhale the vapors. Also, when my son gets a cold he wheezes, so I put him in the bathroom with the doors and window shut and put the hot shower on so that he can inhale the steam. Lots of water to flush the system and lots of rest so the body has enough strenght to fight the virus. Oh, and of course, lots of TLC. |
