Can taking a 500mg vitamin C tablet help me not catch any diseases, infections, or colds??

I use to always catch soar throats, but since i've been taking the chewable tables i haven't been having any, but my mom said it prevents me from catching a disease or infections it that true

Vitamin C may only be useful in case of a cold if you have low levels of this nutrient to begin with. The likelihood of success may be very individual -- some people improve, while others do not, so if it works for you continue taking them.
Zinc is another natural way to prevent colds.
Many years ago, vitamen C was lauded as the preventer and curer of colds. Perhaps a little citrus juice is helpful, but no panacea.
The normal daily requirement of vitamin C is about 70 mg. for an adult. As it is a water soluble vitamin and not fat soluble, it cannot be stored in the body. The excess is excreted in the urine. Therefore, mega doses do not help, as was previously believed.
