My mom has had a cold for 2 week, how does she get rid of it? |
Ive heard that your suppose to only have a cold for 7 days. But shes had it for 2 weeks. She has the running nose, yellow snout, clogged nose, coughing, and tiredness. Is this even a cold? Please help me ASAP. Thanks alot :] well sometimes if you have a serious cold it over stays its welcome.it's nothing to worry about too much. it sounds like she has nasal and chest congestion. have her drink lots of tea. an make sure she inhales the steam from the tea or anything else. there are things such as vapor creams and other things that you can buy for a few dollars at any drug store that help clear nasal and chest congestion fast. make sure she gets a lot of sleep so she can save up her energy. you have to make sure she is eating healthy. soup and broth is great [ no creamy soups] and you need her to get something solid down so also give her a piece or toast. if she wants to she can take medicine. if you are already doing this or did this and it didn't work, call the family doctor and make an appoitment ASAP or if she is too weak to get out of the house ask him to make a house call. i hope this helpes and your mother's health is returned to her soon!!!! Source(s): nurse and past experience Take her to a doctor, normal colds don't exactly last two weeks. It could be something more serious. praps she has a touch of hay-fever on top. ask a chemist for advice. & going to see a GP/MD/Doctor maybe a good idea, too colds that last longer than a week need to be looked into. If it's lingering this long it may be seasonal or environmental allergies. She should take vitamins and try some allergy medication. All of the symptoms you described could easily be associated with an allergen. If she runs a fever, then I would be more concerned about an infection... but at this point, I say: allergies. Try taking claritin or benadryl at night. There are other prescription medications that are good, as well. You just have to wait it out. It might be alergies that she's not aware of. Try a nose spray for alergies and see if that works. make some chicken soup , just a old fashioned remedy!! good luck |
