I am ALWAYS cold, always tired and fatigued and loose my hair but im only 19 could it still be a thyroid prob?

My mother told me it might be a thyroid problem, but im not sure I want to get it checked but it takes forever to get an appointment. And I don鈥檛 want to waist the doctor鈥檚 time or mine!

Your doctor will not think you are wasting their time! Your thyroid could definately be causing this problem-not that uncommon in females your age. More commonly the cause of these types of symptoms is anemia, usually iron deficiency anemia to be exact. Girls your age do not usually get all the iron you need in your diet added to that the fact that you lose blood every month-it really is pretty common. Auto immune disorders can also cause the above symptoms. I don't know if you have other symptoms such as weight loss or gain, puffiness in your legs, constipation, shortness of breath--but these are all things you need to discuss with your physician. Simple blood tests can show the above mentioned disorders and most can be treated pretty easily. Get in and get to feeling better soon!!
Yes. Hypothyroidism can kill you, and cause you permanent problems later on if untreated for too long. Get the test done, it's a simple blood sample, and find out if it's not something else like anemia or leukemia.
It's easily treated if you do have hypothyroidism by taking a pill of thyroid replacement hormone daily.
Besides, do you really want to be bald and sick?

I have a pituitary tumor and it caused me to always be cold and very tired amongst other things. I'm not suggesting though that this is your problem. Most things that are hormone related can be tested for with a blood sample. Once they get a look at the results, then they have more of an idea if it's thyroid, pituitary or adrenal and then will test as needed.
I had my tumor for several years before I got correctly diagnosed and treated. I spent several years on meds to shrink it and most of my symptoms are now resolved. You are not wasting anyone's time by getting it checked, the only thing you will be wasting is the quality of your life if you don't get it checked and there is a problem.
To determine if it's a thyroid problem, you'll just need a simple blood test. The appointment itself shouldn't be an all day thing. Your GYN can test for this as well as your primary care physician. See who can give you an appointment first.
Take the time to go to the doctor. It could be an under-active thyroid or another problem, so check into it. Unless you'd rather save the doctor and yourself the time and always be cold, tired and lose your hair without knowing why.
Best Answer--You will not be wasting the doctors time or your time. What you might have is a serious health matter and you need to address it. Don't be afraid of wasting the doctors time...thats what he/she is there for. So ask mom to help you get to see a doctor and go from there.....otherwise look on the internet and find the website to figure out your own health problems(just joking)!!! Be serious...it could be something simple but then again it could be something more...Good Luck!!
