Cold sores after oral? |
i started having oral sex with my boyfriend. after a while i noticed i get some cold sore looking things a little after. what is wrong!! they look really nasty too!! help cold sores and fever blisters are type 1 herpes simplex. 80% of sexually active adults have (oral herpes) type 1; this type of herpes can be present anywhere on the body, including the genitals. 60% of sexually active adults have type 2 herpes (genital herpes) which occurs only on the genitals (& transmits only to the genitals) . type 2 will not spread to the mouth. you probably contracted type 1. be careful if you end up having intercourse with your boyfriend as you may contract type 1 in the genital region. you are most contagious when you have a sore, especially if it is oozing or crusty, but you are always contagious. there is no cure, but best to go to the doctor and make sure you don't have a systemic infection. encephalitis or inflammation of the brain is a very serious side effect that could come with herpes.
