Best remedy for a cold?? |
I have a killer cold!!!!!! headaches, bunged up, streaming nose, aches pains, temperature, sneezing like its an olympic sport...... too much to do... no time to be ill.... any suggections???? I'll give you my secret... even though you're gonna think I'm nuts: I usually just drink lots of fluids (virtually water and orange juice only), eat hearty meals, and go about my day like I'm not sick (yet I don't act oblivious to it). I've gone throughout a noraml day sick as can be... and I don't think about it much. I even exercise when I'm sick (which is very difficult to do due to body aches or weakness). If you trick your mind into thinking you're not sick, your body will get better faster. Beware: Be sure to use common sense though. You don't wanna walk into an air-conditioned room after a shower or anything. Although you might want to trick your body into thinking it's not sick, you can't do things that will make it realize it COULD get sick. I fill up on lots of vitamins. I use Emergen-C, which is a vitamin supplement. It has lots of zinc and vitamin C. Also, I highly recommend Air-Born. Both products you put into a little bit of water and they dissolve, then you drink. There's also Zycam and there's a bunch of different ways to take that. However, each of these suggestions will not alleviate any of your symptoms. I like to take Sudafed for my symptoms. I usually by the generic to save money b/c medicine is pretty expensive. It all works the same. I also like to stand in a hot shower and breath in the steam. It helps break up all that "stuff". Drink lots of fluids b/c that helps your body get rid of the icky virus. The only other thing you can do is rest. Your body really needs it. Hope you feel better. go for a really hot indian curry! that usually works for me Go see a doctor. But if you are looking for a home remedy for cough and cold, you can make this special tea by heating equal amounts of milk and water, add tea leaves, sugar, crushed ginger, boil it, strain it and have it. Or, crush black pepper, mix with 1 teaspoon honey and have that. Cures common cold and cough. There is no remedy for a cold. All you can do is treat symptoms, and the over the counter stuff is as good as anything. If you have a willing doctor, you might be able to shorten the recovery time with some of the anti-viral meds that are coming out now, but they are primarily for flu and herpes outbreaks. Their effectiveness for colds seems to be contentious within the community so the verdict is still out until some studies can show scientific proof. To get any benifit, you need to take these within 48hours of symptoms. Basically, you should be able to get by with over the counter drugs, if you can't you may have something more serious than a cold. Good Luck Take a spoon of cod liver oil mixed with honey= that will help you cough up the flem (mucus) in your throat. Take Aleve, it works very well for headaches & muscle aches. Also take Tylenol Cold capsules- the ones that are "cool" kind of yellow. Their the best! Make tea with cut up lemons in boiled water with honey, drink plenty of water & make & drink chicken broth & take a hot bath, as hot as you can stand it to sweat all the sickness off. It helps alot. I'll garantee you'll feel much better the next day. Good Luck! Hope you feel better. The best remedy for a cold would be Tylenol cold and flu and rest . You running around with a cold is going to make it worse. |
