Colon Cancer or Worried for Nothing?

I am 24 years old and had problems with diarrhea for a few months. Went to the doctor, was told to come back within two weeks and took blood tests and fecal blood tests. During the two weeks, I found out my peanut butter was recalled. After three days without eating the peanut butter, the diarrhea went away and has not returned. However, I had a small amount of bright red blood on the toilet paper a month ago, not even after a bowel movement. Went back to the doctor, all tests were good, and he thought the blood was from an anal fissure. I occasionally have narrow stool (not pencil thin), and have a weird sensation inside my rectum. Am I worried for no reason? Does this sound like colon cancer? There is no history of colon cancer in my family.

tiffany...ive read your other questions, and i wonder....do you feel you have a problem with anxiety? i know from experience that high anxiety( OCD in my case) can cause a person to constantly worry about thier health. in a case like that, lets call it hypochondria, the symptoms are REAL...like chest pain, "weird sensation" inside your rectum( i have that too when my anxiety is high and can last for days) etc.
the blood on your toilet paper was likely caused by hemerroids or an anal fissure.

i really feel like given all the information you have provided, that you are fine :)

if i have touched a nerve re. anxiety...then my suggestion is to deal with that problem through relaxation , talk therapy , and meds can help dramatically too. stress can really cause ALOT of physical ailments, so the stress is what needs the intial attention.
all the best :)
This one I do get to answer! I lost half my colon {a hemi-colectomy in '95....and just lost the other half (a sub-total colectomy) in Nov '06. Incidentally, I continued to work (with some minor difficulty) as a Paramedic/Firefighter from recovery in 1996 to just recently. I have a good time just about every day, despite some , shalll we say, inconveniences. The reason I tell you that is not to boast, but rather to illustrate that even if you did have a colon CA, all would not be lost. Listen to your MD, and trust him. If your MD had thought a colonoscopy {looking with a camera in your colon...(it's no big deal) was necessary, perhaps he would have suggested it. If you remain concerned you might ask your MD about doing a colonoscopy. P.S. When I had colon CA the first round, I was pretty darn ill. That is not to suggest all colon CA will present as did mine, but I think you would present differently if you were "that kind of sick". Have Fun! Work Hard! Live Long!
personal experience
listen to rer438. Worry, no, Be concerned, yes!

You sound like a candidate for a colonoscope.
