A number of such patients have been cured at that point. Once spread has gone elsewhere the outlook is much poorer for survival. Treatment is then usually limited to chemotherapy and its effect. Depending upon the size of the tumor spread and other organs that may also have the cancer it's hard to say whether he'd live more than 6 months to 2 years.
