Had colon cancer surgery in 2004, had chemo followup because of one microscopic cancer cell in surrounding?

lymph system that surgeon removed...have had two normal colonoscopies and two normal catscans, but last catscan and petscan indicate 3mm growths of some kind in 3 different areas of my lymph system. Nothing so far in organs such as pancreas, liver, etc...doctor wants me to go back on chemotherapy...i am 66 and in pretty good health otherwise, has anybody here had similar experience? either yourself or relative, friend?, can you share your experience, whether success or failure to eliminate cancer cells in lymph system??? thank you very much..

i hate to be a bearer of bad news,..once it hits the lymphatic system it is carried to all parts of the body.
and prognosis is grim.

see what others say, but deeply research this for your self. Source(s): life
You went into remission and there is a chance now that it is back. Unfortunately that is the fate of most of us. I've been in remission for almost 7 years from my breast cancer and just recently had another pre-cancerous lump removed from the same breast. Thank God they caught it in time, but I know one day the cancer will be back. I had 2 rounds of chemo the last time, so would I go back on it at 66 (I'm 42)? HELL yes. You could live another 20 years easily if you take care of this now. Besides, you don't know what advances they will have in the next couple of years. You have to fight it!
poor you u know what if u wanna live u'll live if u dont u'll be dead just try ur hardest to keep some kinda faith sadly i'm a moron who dosent have a real faith i would say go to church and think good things and ur life will go better try to have fun too and give ur life ur fullest good luck

Someone....
My mother in law had a similar experience 9 years ago when she had her breast cancer removed. They found one microscopic cell in a surrounding lymph node that they couldn't really identify as cancerous or not. She then went through chemo and radiation.

She was in remission for 8 or 9 years. After that she developed some cancer on her spine which she was treating..

Then she had a stroke and they found a lot of brain cancer that had developed (apparentley they aren't measuring for those markers that would of shown brain cancer) but thankfully they were able to do same day surgery and she has come out of that very well.

Once cancer is in the lymph system I am afraid it's very hard if not impossible to illiminate from the body. But her cancer went 8 years without any signs after it was already in (even after finding something in the lymph nodes). Every case is different.. but I would be careful for your health... and monitor things regualarly.

Seeing as you are 66 I wouldn't be as worried. If you went on her time frame you would have 9 more years of good health and then 5-10 years of not so good health.. and that would put you over 80!

I wish you the best and I'll keep you in my prayers.

(Ps- I'll add on a little of her health condition now that she has 4-9 years incase you are interested. She has cancer on the spine and hips now. She went through chemo and radiation for both. Her one leg is struggling to recover from the radiation and she's having a hard time getting around. Her hair has grown back and her mind seems to go in and out just the SLIGHTEST bit. Sometimes she seems more 'her' than others.)
Experience with my husband's mother.
My best alternative is to try Royal Jelly, my Aunt has been taking it since diagnosed with Tumors in her thyroid and after 30 days there was shrinkage, I take the products religiously checkout their web site on www.beeroyalproducts.com
