How long can a person live with colon cancer? |
How long can a person live with colon cancer? It really matters on what stage the cc is diagnosed at. The earlier the stage there is more of a chance the cancer can be cured. I have stage iv cc and was diagnosed Jan 2006 at the 41 years of age. I have had my colon and liver resected and currently have no signs of cancer. At the time of diagnosis they said that I had a year to live if I did not do chemo, and 16 months if I did do chemo. I believe these are outdated stats as there are 4 or 5 new drugs that are being used for cc that are increasing the duration of life after diagnosis. I know of people who are stage iv and are living 8 years after diagnosis. Doctors can only deal with averages, and therefore are unable to tell you how long you have to live. My suggestion is to become familiar with the disease and the treatments offered. I had to educate myself as certain drugs are not offered where I live (Ontario, Canada) and therefore not offered by my oncologist. Wendy www.wendysbattle.com As I hear, not longer that 2 years if surgery was unuseful. Alternative therapies are worth looking into. Anyone with colon cancer should be eating a raw vegan diet. Should put a priority on getting at least 4 full heads of RAW garlic into their stomachs daily. They can eat it gradually throughout the day. It should not be eaten on a completely empty stomach, and should be mixed with other raw vegetables in a food processor to make it easier to hold on your stomach. Otherwise, the pain in the stomach when you eat it will knock you to your knees. It should be kept in the fridge in a sealed container when not being eaten, you should only chop and mix one head or less at a time, and the mix should be eaten within a couple of hours. Garlic loses its potency as it oxidises. It has been proven that garlic kills cancer, under the right circumstances. The pills are worthless. Cooked garlic won't do it either. If garlic is not an option, then the person might consider garlics cousins: onion, leeks, and the like. Also broccoli, carrots, tomatoes, and any other raw fruits, vegetables, and nuts and seeds that they can get their hands on. Cooking food kills the nutrients. The only thing this is not true of is tomatoes. Cooked tomatoes give off more lycopene, which has anti cancer properties. (But lycopene is dwarved by the power of garlic.) Also, the person should drink lots of filtered water and sit in the steam room for as long and as often as they can without becomeing badly ill. Heat in this form is a powerful stimulant to the immune system, but it is terribly important for them to take lots of drinking water with them and keep it close, and drink it the whole time, as you can dehydrate you quickly. There is another important fact to remember: chemotherapy has killed at least as many people as it has helped. This is a proven medical fact. There are many folks, medical professionals and laypeople alike, who will say that that is not true. They know that it is true, but they still believe that their more conventional treatments are better than every single alternative therapy out there. They are just trying to be helpful by 'debunking' alternative therapies. And it's true that most alternative therapies are bunk. But what *I* have told you about is the spot on truth. Cooking foods kills MOST of the nutrients. (Tomatoes will give off more lycopene if cooked, but thi is the only nutrient that is made better instead of worse by cooking.) Fresh RAW garlic, under the right circumtances, kills cancer. And the pills are worthless. http://www.curezone.com My dad was diagnosed in 2002 and is still alive with no relapse. If caught early-even with lymp node involvement new chemo protocols seen to be working, We live in Chicago so there are many major medical facilities-get to a good one-in prove your odds. years if cought early enough.
