Do you think I have colon cancer?

I'm sure some are thinking I'm panicking and I probably am.

The problem is, as of Friday, I started to experience severe stomach aches (it's now Wednesday). Just right now I had an hour-long stomach ache which was probably the worst pain i ever experienced in my life, which lasted for an hour. The stomach ache would occur once per day for no longer than an hour between 7 to 8PM. My stool was normal up until two nights ago it turned black, however tonight it turned more into a light black/greenish color.

Like I said, I'm sure I'm panicking but just to make myself feel better, I decided to proceed with asking this. Do you think I have colon cancer based on what I described above? I'm sure some will just say "go see a doctor", which I have an appointment tomorrow, so I really don't feel like hearing the typical. I just want educated guesses to help me get in a better state-of-mind for the time being.

As for my background; I do not drink or smoke. The only stuff I took recently was a natural testosterone booster (which is legal). I got off of it a few days ago after I experienced these stomach aches. My diet is pretty clean. I usually only eat chicken breasts (sometimes pre-marinated & frozen from the store), tuna fish in water, oatmeal, corn, lettuce, whey protein shakes & baked potatoes. Some days when I feel like pigging out a little with carbs, I make it clean with stuff such as yogurt, orange juice, burritos on whole wheat torillas, which I eat those foods occasionally.

I also exercise regularly. I jog about four miles per day and make it to the gym every other day. Due to my clean diet & my routine, I am pretty shocked to experience anything wrong with myself, physically. I don't get sick, at all unless it's allergies. Also, there is no cancer history among my family, excluding my grandma on my dad's side, who had breast cancer. Other than that, my family was pretty clean from cancer, however, you never know if it will strike me or not. Don't expect everything to follow a pattern or for things to be that predictable. The unexpected can always occur.

Thanks. I'm only looking for serious answers, seeing this is based on a serious topic.

Best answer will get 10 points.

EDIT: I also weighed myself today and I am 161 pounds, which is down from Sunday (three days ago) when it read 164 pounds. :(

Diagnosing someone with cancer over the internet is risky business... and virtually impossible. The only accurate way to determine whether or not you do in fact have cancer is by seeing a doctor and having him/her perform a colonoscopy.

If you do have cancer, the sooner you catch it, the better your chance for recovery.

www.webmd.com is a great place to see possible diseases, and will help you narrow down your symptoms. Don't use this as a strict diagnosing tool; simply use it to become more knowledgeable.

the most common symptom that something is really wrong is blood in the stool. (but that can also just mean that u have hemorrhoids). it sounds to me like u have irritable bowels.

You have a pretty cool lifestyle. Good diet. No, I don't see it as colon cancer. It's probably caused by amoeba from your drinking water....

I had these exact symptoms 2 years ago. I kept complaining about stomach pains and my bowel looked weird. My parents finally took me to the doctor and they said I had a urine infection. Then one day it got bad again, I almost threw up in my mom's bed so my parents took me to the ER again. They figured out I didn't have an infection but I had Ulcerative Colitis. I stayed in the hospital for 2 weeks...2 years later I am still good and I'm in remission. I can't say for sure you have colon cancer. It's a possibility but you will only know for sure until you visit the doctor. But they might make a mistake like they did with me so if you continue to get pains after a week go to the doctor again. But it sounds a lot like Colitis to me since it's what I have. Colitis is not nearly as bad as cancer. You have it your whole life but every person who I've heard who's got colitis eventually went into remission. It's not hard to treat. Don't worry. I'm not a doctor so I can't say for sure that you have it. I'm only saying this from experience

I am not going to diagnose anything and agree with Meaghan 100%. But I can tell you this:

- Black stool may represent blood in the stool.
- Blood in the stool may also be due to an intestinal ulcer if I remember correctly so not necessarily cancer
- With a colon tumor you will also have problems passing out the stool
- With a colon tumor you may also notice your stool is narrower than usual because it has to squeeze up

There are also various risks of colon cancer such as but not limited to:
- Your diet for example red meat and fatty food is bad for that
- genetic predisposition to colon cancer

En fin, so many things. I advise you visit your doctor to discard any possibilities.

It's good that you are going to see the doctor. That is the typical answer because in some ways it's really the only answer that should be given at all. But I'll try to add to it anyway...

The symptoms you are experiencing are symptoms of colon cancer as well as plenty of other things. You will need to undergo testing in order to narrow down the possibilities. A very reliable (most reliable?) way to tell is with a colonoscopy.

It's true that for your age and lifestyle, colon cancer would be unlikely, but you should not rule it out. Healthy people can get cancer too. My lifestyle was not as good as yours (worse diet, some alcohol), but I was physically fit and healthy.

Later on, the many doctors I saw ruled out colon cancer on the basis of my age (25-27 at the time) and no family history. Because my only symptom was frequent gas pain, it was easy for them to diagnose it as IBS and tell me to eat better. If I had been persistent and demanded a colonoscopy at the time, perhaps they could have caught it before I reached stage IV.

I've met a lot of colon cancer patients in the last few months. None are under 50. I realize that I am a rare exception, but I just wanted to let you know that it is still possible, and the fact it is so rare in people your age may lead to a misdiagnosis unless you make absolutely sure by getting a colonoscopy.
