Do asians get colon cancer?

My girlfriend is from Northern China.

Recently she has been having a host of weird bowel symptoms: narrow, soft stools, with mucus, constipation, diarrea, etc.

She does not admit to any blood in her stool though.

I told she should get a colonoscopy, but she told me that asians don't get colon cancer, only blacks and whites are at risk.

Is this true?

She is 19 by the way.

Kinda odd that you're checking out her poop. It sounds like ibs or colitis, not cancer. The mucous is a big clue.

yes she can get colon cancer.she probably believes the chinese diet in china mainly rice and fish and fresh fruits and veg.but a chinese person living on an american diet is just as vulnerable.it sounds like maybe irritable bowel syndrome.here are the symptoms Diarrhea: Loose stools - especially chronic or recurrent - are a primary sign of IBIS.
鈥onstipation: Conversely, constipation is also a symptom of IBIS.
鈥hanges in bowels: Any change at all - whether chronic diarrhea, chronic constipation or both - can be a sign of IBIS.
鈥tomach pain: Many IBIS sufferers report stomach pain. The quality of the pain varies, and may be dull, cramp, sharp or reminiscent of gas pains.
鈥bnormal stool: Any type of unusual stool - such as a watery, discolored or lumpy stool - may be a symptom of IBIS.
鈥ther symptoms: Some IBIS sufferers also report signs such as heartburn, and women are more predisposed then men.in any event she needs to go to the doctor get diagnosed and medicine.no one knows for sure what causes it some think stress others think hormones, how ever certain diet changes can help. if she doesn't get help she will eventually isolate herself from the public paranoid and depressed an attack will occur.you are a good friend for caring and trying to get er help.i would go online and learn about it and try to convince her that way...http://www.medicinenet.com/irritable_bow...

Ha! anyone can get colon cancer or any cancer for that matter. Here is something to know about your stool and your colon. If her stool is thin and long... (think a snake) consistantly then she most likely has a problem with her colon. It is very rare for a 19 yr old to have colon cancer. If she is really worried then she needs to get checked

Anyone from anywhere can get any kind of cancer.

Your girlfriend needs to stop thinking that her race is special.

Anyway, yes, they can get colon cancer. Less common, sure, but still possible. Diet and lifestyle relate more to risk of colon cancer than race.

That said, it would be unusual at 19. She should go to a doctor regardless.
