Contraception/period confusion?

im 17 and since i was 13 iv suffered with badperiodss sometimes having to take a week off school because of the pain and the heavy bleeding, iv recently started gettingdiarrhoeaaas welll which makes me feel even more run down. my friend said you can go on the pill to stop your periods being like this but i really struggle swallowing pills without being sick. what are my options?

First of all you need to find out why your periods are so horrendous. There are several causes, none are too worrying, but should be checked out in any case. The most likely explanation, given the diarrhea as well is endometriosis, but you doctor will talk through all the options with you.

There is an alternative to the pill. It's call Depo-Provera, a contraceptive injection. You have it, usually in you upper thigh, once every three months, and it usually lightens, or even stops, periods. Please research it though as it can have some awful side-effects.

Hope this helps. :)

your friend is right, you can go on the pill. i had the same problem with my periods.
The pill will regulate your periods and is very tiny, so very easy to take.
I cant swollow tablets but the pill is that small it is very easy to do with a glass of water/juice.
There are alot of options for you. The best thing i can suggest is talk to your doctor as he will suggest the best possible option for you, as he will know what you need.

well i have the implanon implant and it's been brilliant for me
it lasts 3 years, stops pregnancy and i don't it causes you to feel depressed. i suffered with bad painful periods and this helped me.
however, every woman reacts differently to them, my periods have practically stopped and are alot less painful when i do get the odd one. but some peoples get heavier.
if not the implant, the contraceptive injection is good to, it lasts for 3 months and stops your periods (so would also stop cramps) altogether and again it never cause depression for me or other people i've known to have it done.
you can also go back after the three months are over and get it done again.

i wouldn't suggest the pill really because it isn't the most reliable thing to use to be honest.

the other two are like 99% garunteed to protect you,
and the injection stops your periods.

so probably one of them.

or you could try the coil;
but thats just scary lol :)

good luck! x

I'm not a medical professional so can't give you all the facts but there are many different contraception's that don't involve a pill. There is an injection, a patch and an implant. Maybe this website will be of help www.channel4.co.uk/sexperienceuk to explain these methods of contraception. If the contraception is for medical reasons rather than just for contraception then maybe you should visit your doctor or family planning centre to get proper advice.

well they have alternate forms of birth conrol they had a patch but i'm not sure if they still use them also they have the implants i can't think of the name right now also the birthcontrol pills are really small and are easy to swallow
