Pregnancy and contraception?

today i heard my friends saying that if you have sex without a condom, you may get pregnant. is this true?

For all the rude people that are asking my age. I am 17

Yes it can make you pregnant, and you are really very likely to if you don't use a condom.
When a woman goes into ovulation, and has sex with a man, without using contraception, their sperm will fertilise their egg, resulting in the woman becoming pregnant, unless there was fertility problems, which are quite unlikely.
So it is always best to use a method of contraception, unless trying for a baby.

Ignore the rude answers, it's a fair question to ask, and people shouldn't judge.

Hope this all helps.

yes you can get pregnant if you don't use a condom when having sex, but more importantly you can pick up nasty diseases like chlamydia, herpes, hiv/aids etc so this is the bigger reason to wear a condom as some of these diseases will have an effect on your life in many years to come. you can go on the pill as well now without anyone needing to know which is a good idea to protect yourself against pregnancy, but remember if your going to have sex your partner Must wear a condom

You must realise how ridiculous you sound that at 17 you wouldn't know about contraception.
The reactions from users are perfectly normal given your question.

I think you need to go to your local family planning centre and have a chat there. They will be able to give you all the advice you need about safe sex and protecting yourself from pregnancy and STD's.

yes you can without a condom it does depends on if your ovulating at that time but there is stil la chance you can get pregnant even if he shoots outside of you because you can get pregnant by pre ***, you can with a condom also as the condom can split or come off inside of you etc no method of contraception is 100%

Of course you can get pregnant. Seriously? You say you're 17, but you sound like my 11 year old cousin.

It's not a fair question to ask when you're 17 years old. I just hope to God you aren't having sex. You'd get pregnant after a month. And this is a public forum - we can be as rude as we'd like. Welcome to life.

ummm yeah. how old are you? btw you can still get preg w/a condom!

EDIT we are not being rude. we are just shocked that you dont know this esp at 17!!!

EDIT 2 how long have you been on Y!A? ridicule and mockery is rampant. grow up and do us all a favor and dont have sex EVER!

and you are welcome because technically we ALL answered your question

this is definately true, dont risk it. the chances are 25% i think if your in your most fertile time, but theres always a chance. be careful. i think its good that you asked just because your 17 doesnt mean you should know everything, im 17 too and its good you asked before you made a stupid preventable mistake :)

yes you can get pregnant. i think at seventeen that is a strange thing to ask but a fair enough question to ask. i don't like it when people are rude either. it isn't fair when this is here for you to ask a question you don't know and want an answer to!
good luck XOXO

absolutely
hunni how old are yeu?
i think yeu need to ask yeur mum about this type of thing or a responsible adult that yeu are somewhat close to.
it will all become clearer to yeu when yeu are talked to and learn about sex. :)

It's worrying that you don't know the answer to that....considering you have to be a minimum age to use Yahoo.

Yes! But if your on the pill, then the chances of that happening are slim, but you can still get diseases and infections.

Yes definately!
Even with a condom its not the be all and end all.
You just need to be really really careful

Yes. It sure is.

Think your Mum needs to have that 'talk' with you

Of course........

Duh!!

:D

Yes it sure can! Very true indeed! x

i knew that at 10!

sure is.........

yes of course! how do you think people get pregnant...how old are you?
