Help with contraception...?

i am currently on loestrin 20 and even though its a low dose iv been having side effects. i was thinking about going on the implant (implanon) and was wondering how anyone found using this. what side effects did you have? good points? bad points? did anyone get pregnant on this? i do know someone who got pregnant on this, i dont know if she took anything that may have lessened the effect of it though. thanks for any info

I wouldn't recommend Implanon.
Good points are that it's really effective and always there.
Only 1 in 100 people will get pregnant while using this.
There's nothing you can take to lessen the effects, except for medicines for tuberculosis or something.

I've had implanon for one year, and I'm getting it out very soon. Side affect I've suffered are acne, weight gain which will not shift no matter what, migraine, irregular periods and depression.

The irregular periods are being on my period for a month or more at a time, and it was clotted. I cant have sex because of it. Pointless.

You could be lucky. Some women don't get a period at all.

It's a gamble. But, if you get the bad side affects, it's honestly not worth it. I'd talk to a doctor about an alternative pill maybe?

Good Luck.

Can you not try talking to your doctor for a change of pill? I was on loestrin 30 and i had side effects for 3 months and never quite got used to it - if i was an hour late taking it, then i'd get spotting. If i go back on the pill another time then i'll try a different type of pill. From my experience, loestrin might not be the best pill there is - try talking to your GP about it.

hiya there ive had the implant in now for nearly 3yrs im due to get it out this december and its been great although the past few months its been giving me abit of bother my periods became irregular,bt i would recommend this form of contraception to you...good luck

You should REALLY ask a doctor or go to a clinic for questions like these.

I wouldn't trust 13 year olds answering these questions LOL
