Ok so i want some kind of contraception?

. ive been with my boyfriend a year and we've had sex plenty of times. but id like a safer option than condoms. which is the best option?

The best option is talking to your doctor. Any number of medical concerns can contribute to what the best contraception is. You can't buy many other kinds over the counter anyway.

It really depends on what you're looking for. IUDs you can put in and leave for up to 5-10 years without ever thinking about them again. Some have hormones, some are hormone free, so if that's important to you, you can think about that.

NuvaRing is nice--it's hormonal with both estrogen and progesterone, but its at very low doses. You put it in your vagina for 3 weeks, take it out on day 21 and have your period, put a ring back in for day 28, and the cycle continues. So you don't have to remember much.

There are implants, which can last for 3 years or more.

There's the shot, which is progesterone only, lasts for 3 months.

There's the pill and patch, which you have to remember to take more often, but you have many choices with the pill.

Hope that helps--check out planned parenthood's website, they have a really great breakdown of cost, effectiveness, and types of birth control you can get.

go to your doc and discuss this. if you don't have a gynecologist you should!
pills are good if you can remember to take them everyday at the same time.
the depo shot is good, once every 3 months and very reliable. but you can only be on it for about 4 years.
either way a healthcare professional will be way more helpful than a YA user.

A condom is the safest way to keep you from getting STD's
If there is any chance he or you would sleep with other people this is the safest and best!
But.... if you really feel you are in a monogomous relationship and there is no chance of this going on.
There is an IUD they are put in and good for a long time. Nothing is needed it was the easiest carefree birth control I ever had! The guy loves it too!

The Pill is worth a shot, but for some people, myself included, the side effects make it not worth it. A diaphragm is probably the next best bet. A condom is, however, one of the safest options, & any other option should be used WITH condoms, also.

nuvaring is amazing.. i used it for awhile but the dosage was not high enough so i had to switch but i loved it.. you dont have to worry everyday whether you're going to forget about your birth control and you dont even feel it

birth control 99% effective rate, but use condoms also, just incase if that 1% happens to be you

Spermacide and condoms should really be all you need in my opinion. If you use them right that is.

abstinence......

Go to your doctor or Planned Parenthood, get an exam and they will tell you your safest options.

Condoms are the safest.

Nuvaring is great.

The best option is to marry him and get some kids!! hope this helps...
