What is the best form of long term contraception you have used? |
I am unable to use the pill as it gives me migraines and i'm on the mini pill but i have put on weight with this. I don't want to use condoms. Any ideas? Fertility Awareness Method, it's highly effective as birth control, it can also be used to assist in conception 鈥?it also goes so far as to help you choose the sex of your baby, tells you when you are pregnant before most home pregnancy tests, and tells you if you have any reproductive problems 鈥?it will also help you identify other sexual health problems such as vaginal infections. It takes a while to learn before you can use it, but once you have learned how to do it then it stays with you for life, it is also cheap in that all you need to pay for is a thermometer, which you can get from 拢 stores, you may also need to pay for a book [Taking Charge of your Fertility by Toni Weschler] and if you have a teacher a small donation may be polite to give. Basically it uses scientific methods to determine exactly when you are fertile and when you are not within your cycle (you're only fertile around 30% of your cycle), it involves taking basal body temperature daily, as well as making observations of cervical mucus and cervical position. Fertility Awareness Method [FAM] also involves the use of barrier methods during your fertile days 鈥?as apposed to Natural Family Planning which is essentially the same idea, however those using NFP practice abstinence during fertile days. http://www.tcoyf.com http://www.28-days.com I used FAM when I came off the pill and loved it, no more of a fuss than taking a pill every day and it taught me a lot about my body - not just my cycles but how my cycles related to my migraines, etc. It gave me a lot more control over my sexual health not just to know what was going on myself but to determine my care when it came to sexual health issues and doctors, many of whom are ignorant and can be shown up as such when confronted with FAM. I actually went on to teach some of the gynaecologists about FAM in the local family planning clinics a few years ago 鈥?how many people can do that as a result of their birth control choices? Source(s): Gynaecological studies, personal experience. Got Married. well i have been on depo for 9 years its been the absolut best for me but have a converation with your gyno Abstinence. abstinence. and try dieting. i had the coil fitted cause i was crap at taking the pill. needs changing every 5 years at least. when you have it fitted its a little more uncomfortable than a smear but not unbearable. then thats it you dont have to think about it. |
