Depression & suicidal = doctor? |
I have been feeling suicidal and depressed for the last two weeks. I missed school during that whole time because I have been feeling like i am going to throw up and feeling shaky and week. I told my dad and he made an appt. with my psychiatrist and its not for another week and a half and i cannot wait that long. My dad was going to take me to the ER but called the adviceners (sp) and they said theres nothing much that they can do and gave me an appt. for later tonight with a doctor. I want to get checked into the hopsital because this depression is killing me. If i tell the doctor that i have been really depressed and suicidal, what will they do? I want them to take this seriously, and not just send me home. Oh and my dad called the psychiatrist twice and she has never responded back. I know what you are going through. I honestly would check your self into the hospital. They can put you on medication that will work for you. I have been dealing with this for 20 years. I am feeling alot better since I was hospitalized. I have not felt suicidal for a year now. Make the hospital aware of how you really feel. Let your guard down because that is the only way they can help you. Best of luck. There are certain rules; things you say that mean 'let me leave' and things you say that mean ' I'm scared to death don't let me leave!' Doctors would probably get you professional help from someone who gives a $h!t about it.. yeah i would tell the doctor they can help you. Skip that psychiatrist!!! Go to the local Emergency Room now and tell them that you are suicidal. What they will do is have a mental health counselor come in to talk to you. (The doctor will also do a quickie exam.) Let them know everything, don't hold anything back. You'll be repeating a lot of stuff but don't worry, all of your info is privacy protected. Tell them you do not feel safe and that you are suicidal, etc. (You may go through this several times in your life.) The counselor will contact a mental health facility in your state and admit you. The hospital will transport you there. You'll stay there until you are well. They will diagnose you and put you on meds. You will be able to stay until you you feel well enough to go back home. You'll also have services put in place such as a better psychiatrist and a therapist to talk to. Don't worry about school either, you'll get tutored at the facility. These feeling are serious and need immediate attention just as you are asking for. A hospital will, with your permission, check you in, run test, give you medication, and have you talk to therapists. If any other treatment is needed you will get it. You are wise to seek help as some think it is a sign of weakness. You have a disease nothing more and it can be cured. Have your dad take you to the nearest walk in clinic for an evaluation. The doctor will take you seriously...guaranteed. The doctor will talk with the psychiatrist on call and let her know what's going on and that you're being admitted to the hospital. She will have to come in and write some admitting orders. If you're under eighteen, you will have to stay in the psychiatric unit for a mandatory seventy two hour hold during which that time the psychiatrist determines whether you are a threat to yourself or others. At seventy two hours your case will be heard in family court and a judge will determine whether or not you should stay or be discharged home. def go to ur nearest hospital and tell them how u r feeling. they will talk to you, examine and give you meds. feel better Ok here are some websites that might give you an idea of what could happen. Go to the emergency room at your local hospital and tell them how you are feeling. Also, call and different psychiatrist and tell them that your are suicidal. Best wishes. Been there done that. most likely if you tell the doctor your suicidal they definatly dont take it lightly!! what they will do is lock you up for 72 hours in a mental facility so that your evaluated to see your kind of deppression to see they can do to help!! and after the 72 hours if you still feel that way tell them and they will keep you longer!! definatly tell someon asap even if its a counsler at school!! |
