Depression from stress? |
my wife takes care of our daughter all day, and i work all the time...but she had to go to the hospital and God knows when she is coming home....they're kinda strict about babies coming in patients rooms, so they can only visit in the visiting room..my wife is frail right now, so she cant do much..and part of the reason she is in the hospital, is because she is pregnant and our 14 month old is putting alot of strain on her, cuz no one really helps her during the day when i am at work. so i am taking care of our baby now, but i believe she doesnt like me at all..because she threw a tantrum...but my mother in law actually got through to her..she calmed down right when she was put in her arms...and i am left out now. i feel really depressed, considering my wife is japanese and i am alone here in japan with my wife in the hospital and i have no family or friends here. i feel like giving up...but i try to stay strong. any suggestions on how to make this process a little smoother? What you feel and are experiencing is normal and difficult. My suggestion is talk to a hospital social worker. They will have knowledge on what support systems are available for you and your wife. You are not alone and they have to deal with this regularly, so they can give guidance and support. If that is not sufficient, I would call a college/university in Japan and speak to the director of the social work dept and they will help (because this info is cutting edge and what they teach other social workers--if they don't immediatly know the answer they will find out to pass it on to you and student). Also, try childhood education or social worker or nanny programs for internship with you and wife. It's free help. Good luck and G-d bless. Also, congratulations on your wife's pregnancy! Get a Nanny to help out, take some vacay from work and try to help out more, in these hard problems you just try to make them better, try to make your daughter happy, buy her some toys, kiss her, smile with her, and buy your wife some flowers everday, spend an hour with her each day also. Stress if a very weird thing, no docters can really cure it.. and it can cause amazing pain, when i was younger (10-20) and i got stressed i would get this horrible Eye pains, and i dident even know it was for stress until i was about 15. maybe see a shrink. you must FIRST of all realize that babies are very sensitive and can detect other peoples feelings and emotions. if your baby feels that you lack self confidence then she doesn't feel secure and safe with you and that's why she's acting like that. you need to be strong and don't allow yourself to feel sorry for yourself, that will only make things worse. BE STRONG FOR YOUR BABY!!! SHE NEEDS YOU MORE THAN YOU WANT TO ADMIT!!! i can totallt relate to you i moved from ny to a small town in florida with no culture and nothing to do no freindss i really got depressed and starting having anxiety attacks i went to see a therapist it really helped they may prescribe some anti-depressents,also i think if your not happy there go back home thats what im doing good luck!!!! your wife is probably going through what you are right now. depression. you should hirea nanny and take her somewhere and at all times tell her that you love her sounds like you have a lovely wife. Depression and stress is caused by alot of things. She maybe so tried, needs sleep. |
