Have I got a minor case of manic depression? |
I'm 14, and think i have a really minor case of manic depression, but i'm not sure. Sometimes i'm just normal, hate french class, like seeing my friends, normal stuff like that. I've had big depression periods, once last last year for about 5 months and later on for about 2. Manic depression requires at minimum hypomania, which is subthreshhold mania. It is considerably more than feeling happy. Nothing you've described sounds like it. Some depression, yes, but it could possibly be puberty. I'm not sure , but i often feel like this - maybe you should go to your doctor or just talk to someone about how you feel x I think you are just a teenager. you sound just like me, I too have stratched my arms and made marks that last days and I think I may be depressed but for other reasons. If bad stuff happened to you then you are going to feel down and crazy, especially with all your hormones going crazy. If you are worried then talk to some one, a friend or your parents or a doctor. But accordind to my psychology a-level you have to have the symptoms for like two months and they can't be due to greif or stuff in your life that's bad. So if you are really worried about it then do talk to some one, they amy say it's just being a teenager, or that it's stress or that you are depressed and may offer you concelling or anti-depressants but in my opinion anti-depressants isn't the right path to start down unless you are really worried, I've seen people on anti-depressants and their life doesn't improve because of the drugs, it use allows them to handle it better on some days. Im 13 and a few months ago I also had a stage of been really depressed for a few days. You normally find that when you have depression something triggers it off like someones died etc. Also when you do have depression you may feel its something alot more worse or serious when really its just depresson. I suggest that you try take your mind of it as sometimes we may just think about been depressed for a while and then literally become depressed (if you know what I mean) watch this, it should help- http://www.wikihow.com/Cope-with-Depress... i don't think that you have manic depression - i just think that you had a bad week. |
