Getting over teen age depression, with out a parent?

im depressed. and ive come to a point to realize it.
& ive come to a point to realize that i need help
but i have no idea how to get it. and i dont want to have to deal with my mom in the process..

You can go to the school counselor...just don't do what I did...then they are required to tell your parents. They found out I cut myself after I was crying madly and refused to talk. If you cry madly and refuse to talk....they will definitely notify your parents.

So, I went to therapy for about 7 months...it didn't really help me. It depends on the severity of your depression and personality though. I didn't really talk unless my therapist asked me questions. I never told more than I was asked. I'm not the type of person that's like "tell-someone-everything-and-it's-okay-a... type of person. I've been depressed since 7th-8th grade...but the issues started earlier than 7th grade.

So you see, I've been holding everything back for more than 6 years...that's why it's hard for me to talk about it now. Especially in real life. And it's kind of taboo in my family/culture so that doesn't help either. I think in my case, medication would help me...I was excited to try it but my therapist left her job exactly when I told her I wanted to try it. And now the clinic has left me hanging.

I think you should try counseling. They will determine if counseling alone will help you or if you need medication and counseling. People are different. Who knows. It might work for you even though it didn't for me. Well, I don't know if it works for me because I didn't get a chance to try medication yet.

Talk to a relative that you can trust and they may be able to guide you through your problems or seek some professional help for you.

If you are at school you should have a guidance councilor, they can help you, if not see your teacher or Principal of the school.

Don't try and handle it yourself, all problems can be solved, you need to live a happy and healthy life.

Whatever you do dont cut yourself or think of suicide please!!

ok start to make new friends and good ones to so they support u. start to read if u have to to get yur mind off of it go for walks when u get home from school. start relaxing sometime..

i hope i help

you really need to see a doctor.dont be worried about it,hundreds of people need this kind of help, doctors are used to dealing with depression,it will be worth it in the end when you start to feel yourself again.maybe go with a friend.

why don't you go to therapy, I hear its really gd, you can talk about all ur problems, and the doctor doesn't tell ur parents unless ur attempting against ur life or someone else, so its cool.
good luck
