I was diagnosed with depression today and put on Citalopram, also referred to a counsellor. My question is..?

..when will i start to feel better? Im so tired.

You might find Citalopram's website and go there, they should have information on how long it takes to go into effect, and also any side effects and things to watch out for.

If after a couple weeks you don't feel like it's helping, you might contact your doctor / counselor - prescribing antidepressants is a "shot in the dark" a lot of times, because medications work so differently in people. What works good for one person may not work at all for someone else...

Best of luck to you!
Paul.

It varies. There is the placebo effect, where you will start to think you are better just because you are taking something, sometimes people get it and feel great the first week sometimes they don't.
Otherwise, it can take anywhere from a week or two for the meds to start having effects. Sometimes even longer for the full effects.

I took Citalopram for anxiety and depression for me it didn't help at all, in fact it made my anxiety 10x worse, one of the medication's side effects is anxiety, another side effect is fatigue, when I took it, I had no energy at all, all I wanted to do was sleep

It would seem that the doctor that put you on this stuff is the one to ask. The one I am no took about three weeks to really feel a difference. Good luck
