Overcoming self esteem issues and mild depression?

i have been 'treated' for both in the past...but now it seems like its come back. it is still very mild right now but i can not afford to get medical help. What are differnet things i can do to help with my self esteem issues and depression?

if it helps...i am a 20 year old female

These two tend to go hand in hand, as it's depressing to not feel good about one's self. The first and most important thing for you to do is to surround yourself with positive people and be in a place to take in positive messages. Ones of hope and success. Books and audiobooks are a great source.

Work out. Not because you need to look better, but the pharamones released by your brain after a work out make you feel better.

Dark Chocolate. Releases chemicals in your brain that feel soothing.

You can start there, but ultimately you are in control of what messages you are taking in from the outside, and thus in control of your own self esteem. Regardless of anything else, each of us is a unique gift, and we should think of ourselves that way.

Good luck.

I'm on medication for depression and anxiety.
But it's not helping with the depression.
So when I start to feel down I call a good
friend and talk to them about how I feel
and remember good times with them.
Or I watch Comedy Central. haha.
Or I watch funny videos online or just
read a book.

Hope I helped.
Good luck!

Go to a Holy Ghost filled church and get diliverance

There are several books you can read and 12-Step groups you can go to. If you have ever had a family member or someone you love with a drug/alcohol problem, I would recommend AA or NA or Alanon or Naranon. One book comes to mind is "Courage to Change." Also, another one, "Healing the Child Within" is a very good one. Also "Boundaries" as this one helps us to set our boundaries that helps us to regain self esteem.
