I'm in the military and have been diagnosed with depression.?

I'm afraid to tell my therapist and/or doctor's that I have suicidal thoughts because I don't know what will happen to me. Any advice?

Seeking help is just fine. If these thoughts are affecting the way you do your job, or you actually think that you are going attempt something tell the therapist. You may be discharged pending further discussion of these thoughts. You may be affecting the other soldiers around you. One of my sailors told his therapist and he was discharged to get the help that he needed, and he's doing just fine now.

Don't be afraid.

Talk to a Doctor. Depression, anxiouty (sp?), etc are treatable and you are not alone. Doctor's have seen this before and this stuff is treatable and your quality of life will improve to the point that you will enjoy life more than you possibly could have imagined before treatment.

I sincerely hope this helps.

TELL your therapist. Suicidal thoughts do not make someone suicidal. Your therapist should be able to make that distinction. Also it is very important that you mention this because some depression medications can increase these thoughts. So confide in your therapist, but I'd leave the regular doctor out of it. That's just my advice.

I've had suicidal thoughts before. I really didn't want to die, I just thought it was easier then having to deal with my problems. When all is said and done I really didn't want to die, I wanted to live. Suicide is just a cowards way out.

Give your life to Jesus Christ and you will be amazed how he will change your life. It's not going to happen overnight but he will give you hope a reason to live and be your rock. I know he is mine.

Im afraid if you tell the therapist they may try to discharge you, and everything you tell the drs ends up in your file. everything.
Try to talk to a seargeant or someone you can trust, sometimes talking to someone will help.

Suicidal thoughts?

Why?

Maybe you shouldn't be in the military.

If I was having suicidal thoughts I would see a doctor. You wouldn't want to follow thru with something that can be prevented.

Your better than that Josh...
