Can migraines cause depression? |
I had a migraine at the beginning of May that had me hospitalised. It's taken a long time to recover from it but in the past few weeks I have been getting really down for no reason and lethargic. It may be completly unrelated but I can normally get to grips with my depression nowadays as I used to suffer it years ago. I will have my first appointment with a neurologist next week which I can explain my situation to him anyway, but it would be interesting to know some of your opinions. They can cause bloody suicide. Two things that can cause depression and one also causes migraines. A hormone imbalance causes both and an Underactive causes depression. I had about 2 migraines a week for 25 years and the minute I had my Hysterectomy, they stopped. So get your levels checked, if they are low they could also be causing the depression. I have been on Hormone Replacement Therapy for 30 years. Every time I think I should be able to stop it the Depression comes roaring back. So get those levels tested. Your family practitioner can order it done. migrane can also be a symptom of an underlying depression. Could be panic disorder being so concerned about getting a headache or in a panic that it may happen and you would have to hospitalised again, Panic disorder does or can cause depression. Your best bet would be to talk to your doctor. I think that anything that causes you pain as intense as a migraine can bring about depression esp if you've suffered from it before. I would think it's the other way around No, but I am sure depression does cause migraines. I get pretty flippin' depressed when I have a migraine. No doubt they could long term. feel ur pain |
