How do I tell my mum that I have depression and that I cut myself? |
Im 16 btw Just right a letter to her and show her the cuts. Realizing your feelings and what you are facing is the first step to want to get better. Your Mum probably has noticed stuff about you and is worried but just won't say. If she hasn't said anything maybe she just doesn't know how to approach you. Talk to your Mum and you will feel better just letting her know about what you are dealing with inside yourself. I am sure that she will help you because being a Mum she only wants the best for you, including good help. Make your move and I wish you luck with your recovery. Don't give up, I too suffered from depression about 2 years ago. I overcame it but having faith in yourself that you want to get better is one of the biggest things. Have faith, you will be better once you talk to your doctor. Good Luck! Heya Chances are, she knows you're unhappy and she feels as lost trying to figure out how to talk to you as you do. I cut for several years, and it took a long time before I asked for help, and it took a log time before I stopped feeling the urges. My parents were no help- back then, it wasn't something most people were familiar with and my parents just yelled at me whenever they caught me, undoubtedly out of frustration and confusion. Well first there is no reason to cut yourself because it doesn't help, it just brings more pain. and second just sit her down and talk to her. but beware because it might be a little weird at first, but she will do the best she can to help you. And also she might already know, and will probably ask a million questions about why you do that. ok sorry to hear this, i bet ur a wonderful beautiful, coulourfull girl :) and i bet ur mom loves u with all her heart. All u need now is: it's great that you accept that you are depressed! it is the first sign of healing. Go to her now and she will be understanding of your problem, if you feel you cannot do this , then go to a relative/ friend or make an appointment with your GP. You have just made the first step of your journey, well done. Show her your question on here & start a discussion with her. Then you can tell her that you are suffering from this problem. I am sure she will be understanding. She probably already knows. It's pretty hard to hide it from someone you spend a lot of time with unless you are actively trying to act happy around her |
