I have dystimia (cronic depression) and anxiety. I am taking bupropion SR. Is it good? What other things can I do to get better? Please tell me things that I can do in my home. Thank you for your help.

I know some people feel better on Buproprion (Wellbutrin), but I also know very many who don't get better. I, for myself, did not get better on it, and I gave it enough time, and I hated how jittery it made me feel. My depression needs help with Serotonin, and to a lesser extent Neuropineprine. That is why an SSRI or an SSNRI help me far better than Wellbutrin. If you've been on Wellbutrin for abot six weeks, and noticed no improvement, talk to your doctor about other options. SSRIs include prozac, zoloft, paxil, celexa, and (my favorite with least side effects) lexapro. SSNRIs include effexor and cymbalta.
Otherwise, exercise, eat healthy, avoid by all means toxic relationships and hang out with people who make you feel good, try and be grateful when you have a good thing going, do not get angry with yourself if you fall behind, re-connect or nurture your faith, do not drink alcohol, use illegal drugs, or even sleeping pills (those last three undermine anti-depressants).
Things do get better, don't give up hope.

bupropion is generic Wellbutrin. i take it. it's good stuff! it should help a lot.

as for what else you can do, make sure to take care of yourself, avoid alcohol and drugs, have positive and affirming relationships with people close to you, and talk to a therapist. also, exercise increases your natural feel-good hormones and will combat the depression.

you should feel great in no time if you follow that advice!

It really helped me to stop obsessing with things as well. It works well I was on a lot of different meds and this was the best for me by far. I stopped taking it though because my hair stared to fall out.
