Things to do to keep depression away?

Hey, sometimes I feel depressed, paralyzed, unable to pick myself up and live life. The feeling is bad and i wont go into details. Im trying to fix this and it would help if you could recommend a list of things you can do (that doesnt cost a lot) in Selangor/KL that would help brighten up my days. It'll be great if you can be specific...

For example, Ive always wanted to do art or join dance classes but I have no idea where to look.

Wow! It must be at least half a dozen questions that I have answered on depression alone today!!
I have been depressed before but I believe I have found the answer to this.
1) Depression is lack of hope for the future. Meaning you think your future is not bright. So focus on now because now is a PRESENT - all giftwrapped for you. Try to enjoy every min of every day and give it all in whatever you are doing.. no matter what it is. Your sight and sense of smell will enhance.
2) Depression usually comes with negative thoughts so do not entertain them. Acknowledge these thoughts and just let them go. Positive affirmation is important. So keep speaking out positive things.
3) Singing.. if you can. Depressed people do not sing. Find some happier songs to sing.
4) Write down 5 things you are thankful for everyday. Keep a gratitude journal.
5) Prayer helps. Give your depression to God. Ask Him for His peace to come into your life.
God says that His plans for you are to prosper you. To give you a future and a hope. I will pray for you that the Spirit of Depression and Oppression will go from your life.
6) Just get the paint box out and paint away. Anything. You are made Unique and your art will be. Just put music on and dance away. Dancing is great!! to get rid of depression.

Now I speak Life into your life. I speak Joy into your life, I speak dancing into your Life. I speak Peace into your Life. You can say these affirmations each day.. looking into the mirror if you need to. Hope all these helps. In everything give thanks. A heart of gratitude is most powerful in changing situations in your life. I bless you, dear one.

I'm in the same boat too and I'm getting through it. There are some good answers there but consider medication if there are no changes. Make sure you get fresh air and do some sort of exercise even if it is only walking the dog. Talking to friends about it or going on message boards will help you understand that you are not alone and most people have been through the same as you at some stage in their lives.

Exercise helps sometimes. It releases all kinds of feel good chemicals!

yoga, meditate, deep breaths, do somethin dat gets da wind in ur face (:
