Hi i have just started efexor-xr for depression i have been on it for one week now, what can i expect?

im just scared it wont work and ill feel like this forever, ive had the worst insomnia and im only the the 37.5mg, but i feel i will need to go higher. if this doesnt work i dont know what will.

have you done reading about this drug??
first of all i would like to say that i do love this drug, but i will NEVER be able to get off of it.
so if you are planning on being on it for along time, maybe even forever this is the drug for you.
this works really well for my panic attacks, and anxiety, i have been symptom free now for quite awhile, this drug is good, but also very expensive. keep that in mind.,
i am wondering if something a little less addictive would be better. is it only the insomnia you are suffering with? i find that this is a good drug for panic disorders, and mild depression
but if you mean the feeling that youare some crazy person, and you are never going to feel "normal" again, then yes, you will start feeling better soon enough.
you might have to up your dose, the reason why they start you on such a low dose, is because it can cause some side effects, like nasea, diziness is the most noted one. which will pass once you get it into your system, coming off is even worse, that is why i asked if you have read up on it.
you might have to go up, i am right now on 75 and it is working really well for me. i will be on this probably for the rest of my life, but i am ok with it, because ifeel normal again.
did your dr give you any type of sedative? maybe clonazapam or something like that for when you are feeling a bit axious, etc. this can really work to calm you down until you have the effexor working for you
feel free to email me

I take 300MG for my depression and it does a good job for that . But I take 500MG of Trasadone to put me to sleep. The Effexor X P keeps me a wake.

Hopefully, you will feel better soon. Think positively! Meds are often chaged for many reasons! Don't be afraid to report every feeling you have, new / old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.....
