Do some find Depression in fact Enlightening?

Im going through depression and even though its horrible and you feel terrible, I find it enlightening. You begin to see things in a way you would have never seen them before. You analyze things differently too. So perhaps it is enlightening. lol maybe Im saying this because of my depression? I dont even know anymore.
What do you think? Do you agree or disagree? why or why not?

In my opinion, depression can indeed be enlightening.

While depressed there is much self-examination coupled with mild to intense 'withdrawing' from those who know us best. We use this semi-reclusive state to assess our station in life and at least consider our future, if not make some small progress in dealing with those things that lay ahead.

If, in the depressed state, we can come to a minimal cognition of those things, situations, and people that bring us down or otherwise negatively impact our lives then, yes, that could be seen as enlightening. In addition to recognizing the various things that depress us, the introspective musing may also lead us to better deal with them in the first place.

Eye wish you the best in dealing with your current troubles==you sound smart enough to even ask such questions, so I am sure you know that there us help when needed.

Yes depression can be enlightening. Note your thoughts and feelings and enjoy them because depression is horrible and you're already feeling terrible so if you find one joy in your life, whether it's a pet or a movie or enlightenment, enjoy it.

Just remember: do not make any major decisions. What you might think is enlightenment could actually be this other side and view of reality that may not exactly be what is real or true.

depression is humbling. in that respect, you do see things differently. it's as if you're ready to stop escaping things that were so easy to turn away from before you got depressed. they say that suffering can either make you bitter or make you better. it seems you're making a choice to grow through it.
depression is an illness. it's nobody's fault that they have it and nobody deserves it. the most important thing is to make sure you have support from family and friends you trust, and to get evaluated by a psychiatrist. i work with people who take prescription drugs and the right medications can be so helpful.

The fact that you are aware that your analyzing things differently than you used to before your depression is interesting because it allows you to compare how you've looked at things before depression and during it. So, i guess it is true that your perspective on things do seem to "widen" because of this.

Just because you're depressed doesn't mean you're insane.... Yeah it's kind of comforting in its own way. I wouldn't consider myself depressed but neutral and it's better than feeling 'good' because there is no downfall. It's almost good in itself.

And yes, you tend to see things as they really are. No sugarcoating anything. It's not you whose delusional its other people not even questioning what they're doing. Living their lives as they think they should cause thats the way its always been. School >>love>>> marrige >>house>>> babies>> gardening lol

Sometimes. It makes me appreciate the happy times. It doesn't make me do drugs because a lot of high strung happy people do some hard drugs to sedate them or keep them in balance, in which I observed. Depression keeps me in check for my huge desires. Imagine if I didn't have some depression, then every desire I wanted will keep me overloaded and I wouldn't stop.

When im depressed i just rember that i deserve to suffer because Jesus Christ was nailed to the cross (crucified) and he died for our sins there so that if we believe in him and accept him and are baptized we wont go to hell even if we sin he will forgive us

Depression gives us time to pause and reflect. And the suffering is a teacher. Wisdom is gained.

It's there to help. But chronic depression needs to be medicated, because day should not become a permanent midnight.

you see things like you never seen them before that may be true like when I see someone getting an attitude and getting sad because they got a bad haircut or they are mad over what clothes to wear i find it so funny that someone would get upset over something so trivial

actually it does, it gives you a completly diffrent view of the world, and when you look at the world from a diffrent view you learn many things.

It is not indeed enlightening.
Things just dont seem to be working at all and you feel so helpless.

i dont think ur depressed, you sound happy to be depressed and that kinda contradicts itself
