Is there someone who could please tell me what vitamins and minerals help combat anxiety and depression?

Is there someone who could please tell me what vitamins and minerals help combat anxiety and depression?

Multvitamins, Vitamin B and C supplements, calcium, magnesium, tryptophan, St. John's wort, Valerian.

As with any dietary vitamin, herb or supplement, the positive or negative effects will vary from person to person. I encourage you to do your own research and consult your doctor BEFORE taking anything. Don't just take the health food clerk's advice. Serious health problems can occur from food and drug interactions (especially when taking an anti-depressant, tranquilizer, muscle relaxant, alcohol, and any other prescription or recreational drug), and from taking too much.

Any good OTC brand vitamin/mineral tablet should help keep your body in balance, if taken regularly, so if the symptoms are related to lack of nutrition, that should help. Many herbs, such as St. John's Wort and Sam-E, are reputed to help with both. But these are only stopgap measures. If anxiety and depression are affecting your life, then you need to see a doctor--first a medical doctor, because even something as simple as an underactive thyroid can lead to symptoms of depression--and, if all checks out there, some type of counselor. Medication may or may not be necessary, but just having a support group to discuss anxieties with can help immensely. I speak from years of experience!

Research indicates that omega-3 fish oil supplements may help with depression. I take it everyday! Personally though I find a good brisk walk to be the best medicine.

vitamin b12 and st johns wort, but usually meds work, by the way meds are mostly made from plants
