If you are under Depression medication, how often do you see Psychiatric ?

My Physciatri emphasise me to come every week for physco therapy. I am just put on Citlopram - 20. In the second visit, i have not found any major side effects, but still he want me to visit him atleat once a two weeks. I have very good knowledge about depression and anxiety. Is he really bag fetcher ?

You probably have not been on the medication long enough to have seen the benefits and side effects yet. It can take 1-2 months to judge the effectiveness.

If you know a lot about depression and anxiety, then you know that medication combined with aggressive therapy is the best treatments for depression. If he wants to see you every two weeks I suggest listening. If you trust him enough to prescribe medication, then you should trust him to decide how often you need therapy.

Psychotherapy is a method, not a treatment. In a nutshell, it just means you are doing most of the talking. You should tell him you don't feel you need to come as often. See what he says.

I've suffered with depression for about 5 years and have been on and off medication. I started seeing a councellor / psychiatrist 16 months ago, and see her every single week.
Intresting you say you're on Citlopram, as my doc put me on those tablets over christmas, and they made me feel so ill ! I couldn't take them, I was so sick! But a friend of mine is on them and says they work perfect for him!
I think it doesn't matter what medication you are on, it is still best to speak your troubles / problems over with someone such as your psychiatrist. It helps a lot more, and definately see him every week, until you feel you don't need to see him any more. Believe me it helps in the long run.
I don't know what I'd do without my psyciatrist, she's done so much for me. Seeing her every week definately helps me, she's changed me into a different person over the last year.

I really recommend you keep seeing this psychiatrist and keep on with the medication, and not just for a matter of weeks.

Good luck with it all x

When you're first put on a new medication, the psychiatrist will want to see you really often, once a week, or every two weeks. Then, after you've adjusted to it, you'll need to go once a month, then less. But if it's psychotherapy you're talking about, then it's not at all odd to go once a week.

i used to see mine every other week.
