Can the weather effect my depression?

like if its really rainy, is it possible for my depression to get worse?

i think so. i always feel more depressed when its raining and more happy when the sun is out... which sucks cuz i like in washington and its ALWAYS raining lol :)

There is a real disorder called SAD (seasonal affective disorder). Your mood is affected by the weather, season etc. When it is cold, cloudy, rainy your mood is reflective of this. When it is warm, sunny and clear you are happier, more energetic and in a good mood. I have it and that is why I moved from the north where it is cold and dreary 6 months out of the year. I am a much happier person now.

oh yes. do you have a barometer? When the weather is sunny and dry and the barometric pressure is high, you will feel energetic and that usually counterbalances depression. When the barometer is low it is often rainy , you will feel tired and miserable as well as have aching when you are older. Get a barometer and dont look at it until you chart how you are feeling first, then look and see if I am right. This works better in the winter than summer

Sure. We are all affected by our environment- have you ever heard of SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder)? Gloomy days outside can makes us feel gloomy inside. On days like that I like to turn on bright lights, wear bright colors, listen to upbeat music...it helps my mood. I also remember that rain is great for the enviroment- it helps keep everything green and healthy.... no rain equals brown, dry grass and trees in the Midwest which is very depressing.

Mine does, but not in a big way and I feel relief when the weather turns again. I suppose it is the normal down of crap weather just adding on, but the effects are temporary..like a regular person.

Yes, and atmospheric pressure too.

blame it on the rain...
