How do i handle my severe depression?

I am 13 and have severe depression. I have suicidal thoughts and have cut before. I have also had bulemia and anorexia. I'm sick of hating myself. Please help me.

I also cant talk to family because they are the reason for my depression so i also cant see a doctor.....

I've been through that. 13-14 were hell years for me, I only pulled out of it last summer after I turned 15.
Always felt like crying, tired all the time. My family never really knew how sad I was because I felt like I had to deal with it myself because it was my problem. I鈥檝e also myself never been good at talking about my feelings partly because I felt saying something wouldn鈥檛 make it go away and that I always felt like I always failed at explaining myself and didn鈥檛 want to be misunderstood. The only reason I鈥檓 saying all this is because I鈥檓 not looking anyone in the face and because I feel stupid actually saying these things. So I can relate about wanting to keep it to yourself. Though a dairy would help, your not trying to convince anyone, and you don鈥檛 have to worry about people judging your feelings. Find some way to express your feelings. Thanks to my depression I found out that I really like to write music, at first it was sad but as I started to change so did it. Anything that you can make completely yours. What i did and what you have to do is find something that means most to you, something worth living for. Find something that inspires you to change. Nothing will change if you don鈥檛. It鈥檚 not going to happen overnight, your going to break down and feel hopeless. It鈥檚 hard to tell you what to do because happiness is different for everyone. Though at least what I think for myself and some others is that to be happy you don鈥檛 need to think about who you want to be but instead who you are and be happy with yourself before you change. Also there are always going to be things you want to change but you won鈥檛 always be able to, you have to accept those unchangeable things as being you. If there are things you hate about yourself, you鈥檒l aim to get rid of them, some of those things you can鈥檛 because those things ARE you. Those things you don鈥檛 like aren鈥檛 something to be ashamed of. The first step is to appreciate yourself for who you are. Be happy with the bad as well as the good means to like yourself, because if you only look to the good you will always hate a part of yourself. The way to think is, 鈥渢his is me, and I鈥檓 going to be stuck with myself my whole life, so I鈥檓 gonna become someone I can be proud of.鈥?Even now I am not satisfied with myself because I am not fully who I want to be yet, but I am happy with the effort I am making. You should give yourself the credit you deserve, to deal with that kind of sadness and live through it unlike so many others who have given into suicide shows real strength as a person. No one is ever really truly happy and can list many things about their life they would change, because everyone has a time in their life when feel like they鈥檝e fallen on their face. Your going to have a real awful time, but something good will come out of it, even if you don鈥檛 think so now. The only option is to take things a day at a time, think about yourself, who you are and who you want to be. Eventually something will click and you鈥檒l take steps to pull out of what your feeling. No matter how long it takes don鈥檛 give up. Both you and I are young and have barely experienced all life has to offer, we鈥檝e lived too short to already think life is over. Just be ambitious.
[This is really long but there鈥檚 no simple or at least helpful answers to your questions that aren鈥檛]
I know this sounds corny but if you ever have a feeling you feel like expressing you can email me on my profile page. Just if worse comes to worse and you need to say something, I won't judge you and you never have to worry about being embarrassed to face me. Though you'd probably feel weird expressing feeling to a stranger, I know it would have made me happy if someone offered to openly listen.

If you can't do anything else, call this number :1-800-273-TALK

PLEASE go talk to someone at school (a counselor or the school nurse.) They'll probably put you into the hospital for a few days so they can help you sort things out. That may seem scary, but it's actually a huge relief when you're really depressed (I was hospitalized a couple times when I was a teenager, for cutting and depression.) They'll be able to give you the intensive attention you need and see if you can benefit from any medications.

Also, remember that depression can affect your judgement and perception. You may not want to talk to your family (and for all I know, that may be the best idea if they're abusive or in denial) but you NEED to talk to someone, whether it's someone at school or any other adult that you trust. It's better to start your recovery now, when you're 13, than when your older and have years of self-abuse and abuse from others working against you. If you can have the strength to ask for help here, you can find the strength to get more.

Oh, Natalie, I was so sad when I read your words. Please, please, please don't hate yourself, and please don't hurt yourself. God created you and God loves you soooooo much. No matter what your problems are with your earthly parents, God is your perfect heavenly Father and will never let you down.
I encourage you to talk to your school counselor and let him/her know that you have cut yourself and that you have been very depressed.
Also, and very importantly, find a church you like and get involved.
And Natalie, you can e-mail me anytime you want: Becky7917@yahoo.com.

...you are not alone in the struggle against severe depression.

You need to get in contact with a hospital, and find out how to get some help. you're here asking, so i know that you want help, do you have someone you can talk to, someone you can trust to help you look for a place that will provide you the services that you need? I understand that people who self harm are often ashamed, but you should be proud for admitting it and asking for help...its out there, all you have to do is take the first step and get to know some resources in your area. Then you'll be able to make a decision about where the best place to go is. And if you cant find it there, any crisis line in your area will have a directory of local community agencies that will be able to provide services for you

Homeopathy therapy will definitely help you........Its helped me 10 years ago and I'm better than ever!! You can go to a specialist or pop down to Boots (if you live in the UK) or find a place in your hometown that sells the stuff and find your exact symptoms in the booklet that is provided by them or check out the sites below...
On top of therapy you can do some light daily exercise like walking and/or going out into the nature...getting lots of sunshine.......eating healthy like whole brans&seafood........taking vit. B-complex, Co-Q-10 supplements (you can find these at health food shops) and give yourself time to get better, don't rush yourself into anything until you get a bit better.....
All the Best...

The eating disorders are probably the major cause of your depression. You need to open up to someone about your eating disorders to get it off your chest. You are a valuable human being, and suicide should never be an option.

Do something nice for someone like volunteer at a daycare or at a senior citizens home. This will take the focus off of yourself and your problems as you put a smile on someone else's face.

Hey, dont hate yourself. I had depression before (but not as severe as yours I think).

Distract yourself. Meet new people, get into new things, hone your talent. Love yourself move than others. Hey I know that it sounds selfish but it works.

What is life for but to enjoy. You only live once. If you die then byebye. if you commit suicide then its hell forever.

Rethink. Rediscover yourself. Have fun. Go out with your friends ^^

well first u need to know that trying to hurt urself will make u more depressed. u are way too young to deal with this. im sorry that ur family isnt there for u. u might of got brought up believeing that God isnt real but u should give him a chance. he always listens :) also, if u need someone to talk to u can email me. u shouldnt have depression at ur age. im sorry that u have to go through this. ps. getting a cat will help, i know it sounds stupid but having someone that needs u wil make u feel more useful. and cats are always great best friends

I suffer from depression and I am 28. What I do is I write in a journal. It's like releasing your feelings and I feel better. I look forward to doing this. A few years ago, I started buying stickers, stamps and cutting words out of magazines and making my journal more creative so when I was in a crappy mood, I would just glue in a crappy word next to that part of the entry. I also spend a lot of time alone, which my doctor doesn't suggest, but I enjoy it. I read a lot too.

You need a professional help, need to find yourself a good therapist, but you must respect her/him and commit yourself to follow advice. They can not fix it for you, you only can. And you can do it. I understand how painful it is, you are not alone even as much as you may feel so alone. take care....

so many people go through this un-noticed you need to have a serious talk with your parents and if they dont listen make them if they dont do anything to help you, you need to talk to some kind of counselor maybe a school counselor... keep your head up i'm sure you'll get through it

Play some loud music and just rock out! That will get your mind cleared. Talk to someone!!! Whether it is your parents or a friend you need to tell someone. Stop thinking so negatively about yourself. Remind yourself that everyone has a purpose here!! And dont give up. *HUGS* I hope you feel better :)

Tell your parents or counselor at school or call 911 if you get really low, you need to take care of yourself and trusted adults should be guiding you and helping you through this. Find someone and be safe, hold on!

Well all I can say is that suicide and other methods of stress relief is really stupid. You need to tell a friend, parent, or someone you trust so that they can get you some professional help!

Get professional help.

You have to see a professional.

you need alot of meds
