Are you taking alot of medication for depression/anxiety?

Does it make you feel better

Being depressed is not something you can help yourself with. It is an ilness and caused by a chemical imbalance, therefore I say antidepressant medication is very helpful. Feeling sad all the time, just because you do not want to take a pill, is like living an empty life.

YES to both of your questions!!!!
i take lithium, seroquel, abilify, lamictal, vistaril, dilantin and a few others for other illnesses. without this med cocktail i would NOT be here to answer this question. i have bipolar II ultra rapid-cycling w/ psychotic features, borderline personality disorder w/ histrionic traits, PTSD and anxiety disorder. medications are a part of me. i will be on them for the rest of my life. with my meds i am able to live a quality life.

BTW...very good question and you did a great job on your added details...i feel the same way! you cant fix a chemical imbalance without meds...

The way I see it, the world is over medicated.
I was diagnosed as being bipolar three years ago, and the anxiety disorder diagnoses came after a panic attack while I was working.
I've been on drugs for both. In both cases, I felt like a zombie. So, with the blessing of my doctor (who I love dearly for agreeing with me on this), I stopped taking anything for my supposed mental health issues. I see a therapist when I start getting to hard on myself, and my friends and family are all very supportive of me and my decision to not take medication any more. I've never felt better, despite the blows life will throw at me.

The thing to remember in this case is that not all medications work the same for all people, but they do work. They also don't work immediately. You take a tylenol for a headache, and your headache is usually gone within an hour. With antidepressants it can take two weeks to a month to see any improvement. If one antidepressant doesn't work for you, tell your doctor to try another. Sometimes they may simply need to up the dosage of the one you're already on, but if you don't get results be persistent until you find the one that's right for you.

You might also want to consider therapy or a support group. Most people get better results with a combination of psychotherapy and medications than either on alone.
Good luck.

I don't think I'm taking a lot of pills...right now I'm on Cymbalta (90mg), Seroquel (900mg), Ativan (2mg), and Ambien (10mg)...I also take a super B vitamin and a "multivitamin" to take with my antidepressant.

I feel better on the meds then when I'm off...but the seroquel isn't doing it's job...it's suppose to help with the symptoms I have from being schizo...it doesn't do anything.

The Ativan really helps with anxiety..

Good Luck

no I take nothing

I think a lot of it is do to peoples inability to deal with life and they are looking for a pill to fix them, rather then taking the initiative to better themselves and create a decent life for themselves
No more whining stand up and take charge

and yes I have had a hard life too
daughter died 25 years ago
was hit by a car and permanently injured
wife moved out 1 week after accident
I don't need no stinking pills
and neither do most others

im a psychology student, and taking meds is not good thing. there's an alternative way except tking meds. What kind of depression, you should know first where it start and what cause of it, and what kind of anxiety it is. Seek a psychologist for better result.

IM not taking anything.
I could possible have a violent case of anxiety/
ocd/depression. gee i dunno anymore. Mine
all started with a phobia.

I wont take no pills. Not my thing. I'd rather
live it out and work through it. althou i hate it.
Try bush flower essence drops??

um... taking a lot of that kinda stuff can effect ur health. although beta that than being depressed, i guess.
when i'm depressed or anxious, i just eat chocolate.

they tryed to give me those stupid pills but i refuse to be told only a drug can give me happiness. The world is full of things that could make anyone happy you just have to open your mind and stop thinking that your depressed

I am currently taking five different pills for depression.
Wellbultrin XL, Luvox, and Trazedone are the major ones.
A combination of those help me out alot.
I have been probably ten times happier.

yes it has made me feel better i take them for anxiety and it has helped me alot i am also going to start medication for depression

In my opinion yes.....yo both, for now. Depression meds may need changing from time to time.
But I know others who take wayyyy more than I do.

No only effexor for me and works greatly :)

Valium and its great!

I'm on Prozac at present, but I find it helps my hubby more!

the only thing that works for me is MM. lol
