Hi im just wondering if anyone has taken fluoxetine anti depression tablets?

if so are they good or bad? i just got them and want some reviews on them first as i have heared some bad things about certain anti depressents.

I took them for about 20 years and they were very helpful. (I have pretty severe genetic-related depression - three suicides in three generations on my mother's side) I had to increase my dosage over the years andhave changed to something else.
The biggest danger from anti-depressants is that they can raise the energy level of someone who's suicidal enough but hasn't been able to get it together to off themselves. Once you can relate to suicidal thoughts and feelings as symptoms of your depression without any real control over you, there shouldn't be that danger.
An important thing to remember is that everyone's different and reacts differently to different things. Form a partnership with your doctor to find what works best for you - give it time to act, but keep track of side effects (most of which don't last) and don't keep ANYTHING from your doc - he's getting paid to be on your side.

Ahh good old prozac , well my sister took them and she said that they helped her a lot .... My son took them and they really didn't do anything for him ....

Moral of the story is everyone is different and what might work for one person wont always work for another ..Give yourself at least 2 months on them that way u will know if they are good for you or not ... with anti depressants i am afraid a lot of it is trail and error :)
