If there is no source for depression, what does that mean? |
I've been told that the key to solving depression is to locate the problem. What if there is no source though? What if all of a sudden it just comes on me and I feel like there is just nothing left except death? Could this be bi-polar? I'm never really manic. There are just times when I feel sorta stable and others when I get completely bewildered and out of it. I have ocd and anxiety, are these things curable or am I stuck with them. Any info would be helpful? There always is an underlying cause for depression. The symptoms may be different for each individual, but the end result is the same. You know (or knew) there was something wrong for quite a while. Then we convince ourselves into believing all is well since that horrible feeling leaves for a while. Then it comes back and scares you since things you once enjoyed are very bland and mean nothing to you! Then you feel O.K. for awhile then poof, that black cloud of depression is back. It's very scare so the first thing to do is go for a complete medical check up. Once they can rule out anything physical, then you should seek the help of a therapist and/or psychiatrist. You go from the beginning to death. There is much in between.Unless you are a 200 year old going Thur depression, you've got long, happy life ahead of you! BUT! you have to aggressively seek help. It's that important! Don't try to self-diagnose yourself since that would be bad for the medical profession. Once you take the first step the rest is easy, like putting the pieces of a puzzle together. The point is to find the right doctor/therapist for you! Be positive, since negativity will pull you down. Good luck, and I hope you will e-mail me when you are feeling great..That would be wonderful! Also, take things at face value, don't think so deep until you get well, then you can put your thinking cap on again! For now, keep it light. I have had clinical depression since i was 7 and I have never had a source for my depression. My brother is bi-polar, and what I have heard from you does not lead me to believe that you are bi-polar, however, you could have a mild case of clinical depression, in which case, you should consult a psychiatrist. they say that they don't know why depression hits people. If you are never manic, then no, it's not bipolar. It's just depression. A lot of people never find a reason for their illness, sometimes it is genuinely just a chemical imbalance in the brain. Your depression could be caused by a chemical imbalance in your brain. Depression, ocd , and anxiety are not curable, but they are treatable. Paxil and Amitryptaline would probably help i don't know if they are curable sounds like bipolar but I'm no Dr.....ask a Dr. and explian to her/him your symptoms.. |
