Can anyone tell me the symptoms of clinical depression?

I'm constantly tired, always moody, have dark thoughts, have problems sleeping, irritable, and constantly mad at the world for no reason.I've also been having thoughts that everyone's life would be better if I were dead. The only thing that keeps me sane is knowing that I can talk to my wife about anything, and she comforts me and makes it better. She's the only thing that helps.

People with depressive illnesses do not all experience the same symptoms. The severity, frequency and duration of symptoms will vary depending on the individual and his or her particular illness.

Symptoms include:

-Persistent sad, anxious or "empty" feelings
-Feelings of hopelessness and/or pessimism
-Feelings of guilt, worthlessness and/or helplessness
Irritability, restlessness
-Loss of interest in activities or hobbies once pleasurable, including sex
-Fatigue and decreased energy
-Difficulty concentrating, remembering details and making decisions
-Insomnia, early鈥搈orning wakefulness, or excessive sleeping
-Overeating, or appetite loss
-Thoughts of suicide, suicide attempts
-Persistent aches or pains, headaches, cramps or digestive problems that do not ease even with treatment

The symptons are similar to that of depression, but it might be a milder case such as:

which I think is what I have, I have bad concentration and sleeping pattern, feel moody most of the time and have very low self-esteem, but if I have suicidal thought I don't take them too seriously so it is possible you have clinical depression

If you can't find pleasure in life anymore, then consider talking to a doctor.

who is everyone and why do you care what they think? It definetly sound like you could be depressed. Make a doctors appointment and ask your wife to go with you to the appointment if she can. You may only need counseling, or your doctor may want to try medication. Please get some help, you don't have to live feeling like this. It will get better!

yup ...sounds like it to me ....one of my main symptoms was loss of interest in things I used to love to do ...I just had to ambition.
Talk to your doctor, there are great medications now that I don't think I could have made it without !
