My daughter is manaic depression I need help were can we go. we have been to about 30 doctors with no help?

We have been to so many doctors but can't get anywhere. What can I do now I see my daughter slowly slipping away. She's on pills but that's not helping her.

Before you self diagnose yourself with or believe the doctors.

please do the following.

Monitor you body intake.
Monitor the foods and drinks that you consume and track the effect they have on your feelings.
Try and drink non flourinated water. This chemical was used in prison water supplies to sedate the population, and the side effects are many.

Please also consider this, the mind is VERY powerful. far moreso than we are educated to believe. You can induce feelings through thought which directly effect the physical.

Before you start pumping pharmaceuticals into your body, consider all the enviromental effects that our body has to deal with. we do not live in a pure enviroment, and our body knows this. The brain is a complex chemical computer, any variance in its normal operating chemistry will effect your personalty.

Also consider hormones, and what things effect them. Life is a learning process, no answer is always the right answer as we are led to believe. Solutions are more difficult to manifest than hope. People are generally trusting and take pharmaceuticals to easily. This makes you become dependant and ultimately this makes you a slave to the pharmaceuticals. In my opinion a great many ailments are effects of our modern environment.

Ask yourself this. Which does the established medical infrastructure stand to benefit more from commercially, providing a cure or the management of malady?

What's the deal with so many doctors?
A person with Bipolar illness (the presently accepted name) typically must try several medicines, and combinations thereof, before finding the "cocktail" that works best for them. Sticking with the same doctor helps a patient to get off the merry-go-round of multiple tries by multiple doctors and prevents the close observation of the patient by that one doctor.
How old is your daughter? Where do you live? What medications has she tried, and in what combinations?
You can email me; I may be able to steer you in the right direction.

If your daughter has seen that many doctors and hasn't gotten any help I would wonder if she has the right diagnosis. My girl friend was diagnosed about 30 years ago with Bi-polar disorder and that's what she was treated for, Years later when she went into the hospital after her son died she was re diagnosed with something one the schizophrenia spectrum and ever since her medication was changed to deal with that she's been a changed person. She's much happier and more able to deal with people than she was before. You also don't say what type of doctors she's been to. She needs to see someone who specializes in bi-polar disorder and schizophrenia to make sure that she's gotten the right diagnosis. She might have to be admitted in order to give the doctors the time to figure things out and to change her medications.

Go to the park. Try taking her outside in the sunshine, and playing with her. Tickle her. Go to a water slide or amusement park. Get her on the scariest ride you can find, and get on it with her, no matter how scared you may be. Make her have fun, whether she likes it or not. Be funny and make her laugh. MAKE her laugh. Do your best Jim Carrey impression, or whatever, until she laughs so hard she pees. She will learn to appreciate both it and you. Laughter will help your daughter like nothing else. Pills don't do much, but for the pharmacist and the person prescribing them.

Manic Depression is the old name for what we now call Bipolar Disorder. Has your daughter been officially diagnosed with Bipolar? If not, she might have something else going on. If so, she sounds like she needs some medication management.

To say any more, I'd need more information in several areas... what her symptoms are, the kinds of things she does, why those 30 doctors have not been able to help, etc.

I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter; that must be such a scary situation for you and mostly for her. How old is your daughter? It's pretty discouraging when you've seen so many doctors with no answers. I know some people don't respond well to one med in particular, but they respond well to a combination. Have any of the Dr's tried this approach? Surely they have, it's just a thought...God Bless.

I agree that it can take a while to find the right med mix. Just hang in there and try different combinations under the guidance of a doctor.

Personally, I take:

Geodon 40 mg (for mania)
Abilify 10 mg (for depression)
Lamictal 200 mg (mood stabilizer)

Good luck!

i work with people with Bipolar Disorder currently...

what kind of problems are you seeing.. if your comfortable talking about it you can email me.. my clients are all over the charts.. crying one minute and giggling and pacing.. trying to throw things around and hit me or other people.. the next.. refusing medications.. there are all sorts of levels/varieties and it can be very trying for everyone.. you can try counseling and therapy to help her talk about her feelings and help her better express issues.. keeping day to day schedules very regulated is very important! keeps things from getting offbalance and out of wack.

I too have Bi-Polar and although Medicine affects people differently you may want to look into Lamactil, I felt like a guinea pig for awhile because the medicine was not working that he put me on, but then he put me on Lamactil and it was literally a life saver for me.

pills dpnt aways help.
go see a therapist.
friends and family can help her, she needs support.
