Why do people say working out is good for depression?


I continue to try it. Working out is really the only thing at the time that's really helping. Just wanted to know why

exercise releases endorphins, which generally make you feel good. If you were depressed, exercise would also give you something else to think about, and when you have exercised you will hopefully be tired and sleep better!

It seems from reading the web sites that doctors are unclear as to why exercise is good for depression. It alters brain chemistry but exactly what it does???

Because it supposedly helps you take your mind off of your problems for a little while. You are supposed to put all your energy into working out and let all your frustration out that way.

Obviously, you haven't tried it. If you have been depressed and tried it, you would not be asking...

When you work out your body releases endorphins which make you feel happy, or well off.
